Hi

We've been using this site to help us out on our trip to Tobago in two months' time and finding it very useful, thanks Steve. (I admin a forum for a band so I know what hard work it is!)

Been looking in the Dive section and couldn't see Charlotteville Adventure Dive Centre mentioned, so wondered if anyone had used it please?

Thanks very much (I have a feeling this won't be the last of my questions as we're currently pondering how long to stay in Castara/Charlottesville)

Hello Helen

Welcome aboard!

Difficult one! I believe this is Caroline Hardy, who owns/runs the Banana Boat Inn. She managed the only dive shop in Charlotteville for a couple of years, but that closed two years ago - largely, I believe, because of legal complications owing to the dissapearance (while diving) of the owner some years previously. As his body was never recovered, he is technically 'missing' rather than dead and that complicates the estate.

Anyway, I believe Caroline qualified as a PADI dive instructor a year or two ago but I confess that I didn't know she was active. I think it would probably be something of an exageration to call it a "dive centre". Other than that, I really can't comment. Unless you are an experienced qualified diver, I think my only sensible advice would be recommend that you dive with one of the established dive centres in Speyside, which is only 15 minutes drive from Charlotteville.

Thanks for that Steve. The Banana Boat website has blurb about Caroline being qualified and running a PADI dive shop from below the rooms so certainly sounds like is active....
