Salt Water Fly Fishing in Tobago

Dear Forum,

Please can you help me? I will be travelling to Tobago in November 07 for two weeks. Whilst I am there I would like to try my hand at salt water fly fishing for bonefish, permit, tarpon and snook. I am keen fly fisherman in the UK.

Ideally I would like to hire fly tackle in Tobago and employ a guide.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Screaming reels….

Hi Benjamin

Have you checked out the myTobago fishing pages here - http://www.mytobago.info/fishing.php

I rate Kester Herbert as THE man to fish with if you are staying around the Crown Point to Plymouth / Scarborough areas. You can find contact details for Grand Slam Charters here - http://www.mytobago.info/fishing04.php

Kester will know where the species you seek are most likely to be and will fish from Grand Slam I - the smaller of the two boats, but I would not bank on catching a permit, however; a jack would be a good substitute.

If you are staying up around the Castara area, then I believe that King David has some fly gear for tarpon, but bones and permit are out of the equation this far up the island.

Hope this helps

Steve
