Hi!
Me and my boyfriend are travelling to Tobago for the first time in january/february. We are staying for two weeks. Our plan is to stay at different hotels/guesthouses. Does anyone know if it´s hard to get rooms during high season? Or do we need to book in advance??

I know from the emails I write with guests (or guests we ahve to turn away already) that they have trouble finding places NOW ...also other guesthouse owners tell me they get good bookings already...so if you don't want the leftovers with no choice in which area you stay you should rather get going... the accommodation list will be a big help
have a great time in tobago

Lisa O,you had definitely better get a move on or all that will be lrft is the dregs in the lowlands and low quality shared accommodation.

Lisa, you need to be aware that Trinidad & Tobago's biggest festival, which is Carnival, falls on February 4 & 5 next year. So there will be masses of people coming in from abroad for the two weeks before and after that time. Plus January and February is the High Season for Tobago. So book quickly! The good thing is that you can also build into your holiday plans a side trip to Trinidad to experience the Carnival activities if your visit is in the weeks leading to and including Carnival.

LOL! I will admit, to be very honest, I personally try to escape Carnival whenever I can, getting to Tobago at a minimum (and not going anywhere near Scarborough on Carnival Monday & Tuesday!). But at least I have the excuse of having experienced many Carnivals so can be blase about it now!
Still, I had had to mention the possibility to Lisa in case they wanted to experience the Trini version.

Clyde,
I'm SO glad to hear you say that!!! I thought I was the only person in T&T who actually hides from Carnival!!! That makes me feel so much better!!
Lisa.

Thank you for the advices! We have now sent requests to several places and hopefully someone will have room for us...otherwise we better stuff the tent into our packing

. And also we decided to carnival in Tobago and skip Trinidad all together.

As a carnival baby I must say I am appalled at the sacrilige in this thread...there is no carnival in the world like Trinidad's (apologies to my Bago bredrin but it is what it is). The ideal scenario is to fete till you drop in Trinidad then go to Tobago on Ash Wed to recuperate...of course one never ends up completely reviving as it would be a shame to miss wet fete at Pigeon Point
