Tropikist Swimming Pool

My husband and I have stayed 3 times at Tropikist due to its proximity to so many local restuarants and bars in the Crown Point area, and excellent value for money. Most recently (Feb
03) we were very impressed by the new swimming which looks like it should be in a much more expensive hotel. Out of curiosity we went to visit the new Hilton hotel which has a rather disappointing pool and nearly got blown away as the wind blew so hard from the sea!
The new pool was I believe completed late 2001 and having visited a few of the other hotels (Turtle Beach, Coco Reef, Toucan Inn and Kariwak) is fabulous especially for children (we have 2). The freeform pool is extensive and surrounded by lush vegetation, has a fountain and swim-up bar. Other bonus's include the outdoor whirlpool (with sea views) and the original pool which is quiet and good for swimming laps.
Being an older style hotel the standard rooms are quite spacious although the bathroom was a bit small. All in all I felt the hotel offered great value for very relaxing type holiday. NB: the weekly "disco" is no more instead the hotel has occassional evening entertainment using local musicians.
The food was average although given the proximity to so many local places to eat this was not a problem (who wants to eat in the hotel all the time anyway!)
