Tobago and Castara

Just wanted to post our general thoughts about our recent stay in Tobago.

We had some idea of what to expect on our trip, but nothing really prepared us for the sort of time we'd have. We're pretty well travelled from independent holidays in India, Croatia, Mexico, Europe, Turkey, Greece etc..

However, I don't think anywhere we've been have we experienced such an idyllic location and such friendly people.

At first you may think that some are a little abrupt or standoffish. But once you get talking to them and make a little effort, you see the real people that they really are, laid back, smiling with a good sense of humour. They will also happily help as much as they can, and expect nothing in return.

Castara- we took a car round the north of the Island and still thought Castara the best location, even beating, in my opinion, Englishmans bay. Charlotville was a nice village and worth a visit.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but DO NOT go all inclusive in Tobago, you may as well be in any country. You'll miss out on so much. One of my last thoughts on driving to the airport on the way home and seeing the all inclusive hotels and thanking my lucky stars I stayed in a village and experienced the real Tobago.

Phil,

Thank you for ALL your reports. Looks like you enjoyed your stay. Just wanted to say that we thought about Tobago and Castara just the same way when we visited a year ago. It was like reading my own words.

Also congrats on your wedding!
