Hello Everyone,
I only became a registered member of this forum today but have been using it over the last few weeks and wanted to express my sincere gratitude to Steve and everyone who contributes to this valuable resource. I am by no means new to this travelling lark having moved independently across much of Europe, Asia and the USA but never have I had the luxury of such a friendly and informative forum to with which to help plan my trip and (I doubt this is a coincidence) never have I been so excited so far in advance of my departure date!
So thank-you to everyone who has posted their advice, opinions and pictures I booked my flights this afternoon and my partner and I will be on the Island this time next month!

(26th May - 5th June)
I am sure I will be making more posts as the date draws near and I very much hope to be able to add my $0.02 in terms of reviews and pictures upon my return but I thought I'd introduce myself and express my appreciation as an intro!
Manda

Hi Manda
Welcome aboard, but you really must stop this praise or it will go to our head.
Hopefully we can prove that a holiday starts long before - and after - you are at the destination.
By the way, your cheque is in the post.

Hi Gisela
Are you talking to me? Sunday School? Haven't been there for many years to be honest. Its still an experience I recommend to visitors, but to be honest, at my time of life, a good book, a clay pipe, cardigan and a rocking chair have a lot more appeal in the evenings.

Yes Steve,
I'm talking to you and you both are not to old to enjoy a little steelpan party, aren't you?
In Gemany we say age is in the head - not in the bones (unfortunately it sometimes is).
So if we don't meet at Bucco maybe we will meet at Castara.
Wish you a peasant and relaxing holiday.
Carib on me
Cheers

Hi everyone,
we're staying at Castara Retreats which we are thrilled about given all the lovely reviews. We've only got 10 days but I think we're going to try and fit in some horse riding, windsurfing, cycling and diving inbetween some long overdue relaxing on the beach! Oh and of course we wont be missing Sunday School. Though I have to agree with you Steve - a rocking chair and any one of the mountain of books I have bought but not snatched enough free time to read sounds wonderful too, I will be making time for both

Ok Ladies,
Manda and Linde you have to watch out for Steve or me because you have no pics around to see how you look like

but if you come to Castara (Manda is already there) you will easily find me.
22 days to go
Cheers

Gisela, I have made it my mission this weekend to sort out a suitable pic so that you cannot help but recognise me, Although if you spot a man with a huge Tigger tattoo on his back, that is my hubby (known rather originally as Tigger by our Tobagoan friends), so I am not usually too far away!

Hi Linda,
though I have no idea what a Tigger is (sorry I'm not native English speaker and coudln't find it in my dictionary) I took the easy way and watched the photos from your website (frickr-photostream)

really nice photos!
Think I will find you if you are around.
21 days to go
Cheers

Gisela,
You're not familiar with" Winnie The Pooh" then, by English writer A. A. Milne, and which has been "Disneyfied"?
Try Googling "tigger" and all will be revealed!

I can't beleive that Tigger and his chums from the Hundred Acre Wood have not yet found their way to Bonn! I also can't beleive that I don't actually have any pics showing off Hubby's back! I presume that by now you have managed to follow Carol's advice and Googled tigger. We are quite fond of all of AA Milnes characters, both the traditional and Disneyfied version, so much so that our littlest room has Winnie the Pooh figurines, mirror and towels in it, and is affectionately known as The Pooh Room. Guests do seem a little concerned when they hear it described in that way though

.
Anyway enough of the toilet humour, Gisela I'm glad you liked the pics, although you may not recognise my older daughter from them now. The photo's were taken before she bacame a teenager

, she celebrated her thirteenth birthday on the plane on the way home last year. She is now a fully fledged teenager, has died her hair black and gets through an eyeliner a week!
I am still trying to make her understand that her panda eyes will look more like Alice Cooper in the heat of Tobago, but ofcourse, being a teenager, she does know everything!
I did consider stopping her from all the hair dying business, problem is, everytime I try to suggest that her natural colour would look much nicer, she manages to find another picture of me during my mis-spent childhood (wasn't that the name of an album?), and I have to back down!

Morning Linda,
I guess you were posting before dashing off to work. I'm posting because I'm a bit of an insomniac in the spring and have to get on this machine before the rest of the family.
We could waffle on for hours about teenage daughters!
Mine turned 16 last month, and reminds me of that fact at every opportunity. It's an awkward, in-between age; in some respects they are a young adult, but stiil a minor under parental responsibility. I hate to say this, but my boy, now nearly 20, was much easier!!

Oops!

Well, the only excuse I have is that I don't have children on my own. Sure I know Winnie the Puu but...
OK, and your hubby got a tiger like that on his back? Ok, that should be easy to figure out.
Will keep quiet for a while before I make a bigger fool of myself as I already did
Anyway Cheers

Hey Gisela, I understand the mistake, you expect men to have macho snakes and skulls, not cute Disney characters adorning their bodies!
Carol, do you not find it amusing that teenage Daughters forgwet that you were once a teenager yourself and really think you will believe the stories about why they are late home etc etc!!

Found perfect picture to use for avatar, but can't use as altough it is me, is not a portrait. I will go back to the picture hunt in the morning, or get someone to take one once I have put some lippy on. Was going to post a copy of the pic I could not use, but too big a file! will have to try taking again.
You are probably all totally confused by now, all will be revealed soon - not literally ofcourse!!!!

Good afternoon,
A first grade teacher asked her class on a Monday morning what they had done for the week-end and a little girl replied that she visited her Grammy. The teacher told her that now that she was in school she needed to start speaking more like a grown-up and that she visited her Grandmother. A little boy said that he went for a choo-choo ride and the teacher corrected him that he went for a ride on a railroad train. She then asked another little boy what he did and after a moments hesitation his reply was that his father read him a book called "Winnie the Sh*t"
