Which Tour Guide for a certain type of tour?

I am visiting Tobago at the end of May and wish to take a few tours. Can any of you well-seasoned Tobago-travellers out there recommend which tour guide would be best for an all-day 1) island tour, 2) off-road tour and 3) boat tour (with a bit of snorkelling etc).

Many thanks

Russ.

Hi Russ

Whereabouts are you staying. The answers to 1) and 3) will be very dependent upon your location. As far as off-road tours go, Tobago Now (www.tobagonow.com) are the only firm offering genuine off-road tours that I could recommend.

Thanks for the feedback

I'm staying at the Turtle Beach Hotel

I've been looking at many of the web-sites that offer these tours as well as the reviews/comments by others on this web-site, but it's not easy to decide which is the best - unless the're all good! The web-sites I've visited seem to indicate hotel pick-up is included (or at least they don't say there are restictions)

Regards

Russ

Hi Russ

Yes, most tour operators include pickup and return - but not if you're staying at the other end of the island. The reason I asked is because my recommendations would have been different, depending upon whether you were staying in the main triangle (Crown Point-Scarborough-Plymouth), which you are, or whether you were staying in the Castara area, or the Charlotteville area.

Anyway, given that you will be at the Turtle Beach, I would go with Peter's suggestion. If you stick with any of the tour operators mentioned in our articles, then you are guaranteed (as far as humanly possible with such things) a great tour. Avoid firms and individuals not mentoned - in the majority of cases there is possibly a reason why they are not mentioned. Out listing are free, but we don't include anyone unless we are satisfied through independent visitor reports that they are competent and until we have seen proof that they carry the correct insurances and licencing.

At the risk of being controversial....for a boat trip with snorkelling etc I would suggest Dexter Henry from Island Man Tours...you can find him in the Store Bay area....I have been on two boat tours with him and they were both fantastic even though the weather was a bit of a let down on the second tour, he still made it fantastic fun. The day includes pick up from hotel to the boat (and return on the way home) a fully inclusive day of soft drinks, alcohols, snacks & lunch. We snorkelled in 3 different locations, swam with manta rays, had a beach BBQ on 'no mans land' (a small deserted island just off the coast) spotted Dolphins & took a trip out to the Nylon Pool. We also tried to fish but didnt have much luck...! I have Dexter's contact details if you so wish. I think it was about £45 for the whole day which was from around 9am to 5.30pm. We even had a birthday celebration for my friend which included a birthday cake in the nylon pool!

I have a contact phone number for Dexter - +18686831728 I dont believe they have a website but i do have an email address - [email protected]. I have never tried the email address and think phone may be the best form of contact.

If you need anymore info, please ask.
