Our stay at Kia's Across From The Beach couldn't have been more pleasant. Kia's is just across from a delightful local beach, and Pidgeon Point, perhaps the most well known and beautiful beach on the island, is just a five-minute walk away. Karen, the friendly owner and manager of the guesthouse (named after her little daughter Kia), was a perfect host in many ways. First of all, she responded immediately after we sent an email inquiring whether rooms were available (some other places we contacted didn't get back to us, if at all, until days later). She then arranged to have a taxi pick us up from Crown Point airport (which is not too far away, although you wouldn't know it). Prices were very reasonable, and we took a studio ($60)instead of a room ($40). Breakfast is extra ($6 per person) but freshly made (scrambled eggs, fruit, juice, etc.). Karen has a help who comes every day and sometimes prepares local food for breakfast (we had bake and salt fish). The rooms are clean, and have both a fan and an airconditioner. Finally, Karen was also very helpful in all respects, suggesting which of the many nearby restaurants to visit, giving advice where best to catch a taxi to Scarborough, where to rent a car, what to see, etc. Overall, we felt very much at home at Kia's, and are definitely looking forward to staying there again when we return to Tobago.
