A suitable small gift?

Hi - we are now only 6 weeks away from our vacation and are counting down the days. We are staying in a villa and would like to bring a small gift for our housekeeper. We were thinking of chocolates? What do people think - or is there something else we could bring which would be appreciated more?
Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated!

Hello Deb O,chocolates would not make it to her hands except as a gooey mess!!! I would suggest you "sus" her out whilst you are there and think about it then.Having said that you ladies always like a bit of frippery,so I'm sure you will come up with something.
David :D (12 weeks tomorrow and I'm on my way)

Hi David - good point!! As we haven't been to Tobago before I wasn't sure what was available in the shops for us to buy for her but maybe we can find some "fripperies" in the duty free shop before we travel!

Hope you have a good trip in 12 weeks time.

For me it would have to be a Thank You card with some cash inside. The lady can then treat herself, or supplement the family income; and it saves all the agonising!!

The best way to treat a good host?

Well, firstly you are putting your trust in that host and paying an agreed rate to stay in their accommodation ... first time.

So, in the first instance, I reckon the best way to thank and reward a good host is ... to go back !!

In reality, going back means you know alot more about your host ... in my case, on arrival, the first items that appear from my bottomless suitcase are 2 or 3 bottles of late bottled vintage Port and these are consumed with my host until the early hours of the following morning.

The holidays just get better and better \:D/

Regards

Thanks Neil and Paul for your suggestions - and I think we'll probably go with both of them! Can't tell you how much we're looking forward to our first visit to Tobago, although my father visited Tobago 60 years ago! From what we've read I don't think it would have changed much but some sun and relaxation will be appreciated by all of us (we're a party of 6)

Thanks again
