just wanted to let you know I had an e-mail arrived on 20th June saying I had a new private message. I've just come into work and tried to go to it and there isn't one there. Do you have any idea why ?

No idea, is the basic answer. Check your Inbox by clicking on the "You have no new messages" link at the top of the page. This will take you into the Private Messaging page and should take you directly to the Inbox. See if there is anything there. There was a message from myself re your holiday photos just the other day if memory services me right. Maybe the notification email was delayed somewhere along the line?

I know you will have recieved this by PM, Niki, but the comments may be of use to others who use the PM facility in the forum.

I've just realised what has happened. Private Messages are stored in a central database. If either the sender or the recipient deletes a message from their Sentbox or Inbox, the whole message is deleted and neither party can retrieve it.

I recall that after sending you the message the other day, I had a purge and cleared my messages because the box was getting too full. If you want to save any messages, always mark them and then click on the ‘Save Marked’ button. I deleted directly from my Sentbox before you had saved it, so consequently deleted the message.
