hi folks, my question is targeted at one or more of the tobago groupies! i hope it comes accross as it is intended.--- i like the occasional drink [ i mean one beer or one glass wine] i am by no means an excessive drinker! but i would like to know what drink drive laws the island has, and if i were stopped in my hire car having consumed a bottle of caribe, what could i expect from an island police officer?
maybe someone here has had that experience, any comments will be accepted with thanks.

Hi Sian & Dave,

There are laws about drink driving on the island, but they're not as rigidly enforced as elsewhere in the world. As long as you've still got your wits about you, I don't think anyone will decry you for a carib or glass of wine. Just bear in mind that the roads aren't brilliant at the best of times so it wouldn't pay to be driving impaired!! As you say yourself, you're not talking about getting drunk, or driving under the influence, and whilst I by no means condone drink driving, I really don't think you need worry!

Have a fab holiday!
Lisa.

hi lisa,
thanks for that info, it is our first time on the island so we are really looking forward to exploring, which usually means i do all the driving !! in spain that means no drink at all until the car is locked up for the night.
