Hi Everyone,
I just found this site as I am looking to go to Tobago for the first time. Anyone have any comments on spending a week in Tobago during Xmas? I assume it will be down season and accommodations will be easy to come by?
Recommendations on where to stay during this time? Any different going on then?
I will search the board a bit more here soon, sorry if I am asking stuff that already posted!
Any help is appreciated

Hi Mikie
Welcome aboard.
Christmas and New Year are VERY peak times in Tobago, as in most Caribbean destinations. If you haven't secured your accommodation already, you will need to move VERY quickly I'm afraid. Far from the down-season, the winter months are considered the High Season because that is when tropical destinations get the bulk of their visitors from people like me, desperate to get some respite from the awful British winter months.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the welcome and advice. I guess I better get moving!
A few more Q's
One week over Xmas...any itinerary advice? I was hoping to just come in a find a place as we go, but it sounds from your post this isn't the best way as accommodations will be full.
Is it really that crowded or just the best places are gone at this time?
Website is great btw. I just have to find a chance to look at everything!

Hi Mikie
You will always be able to find somewhere, because the total bed-count far outstrips demand. However, whether you'll find somewhere tolerable is another question altogether.
Itinerary? Well, its a very small island and it is all dependent upon what sort of thing you want to do. Have a check at our various articles in the Out & About menu and you'll get an idea of what's on offer.

One thing to think about is also transportation, if you take an accomondation where you absolutelly need a car to be able to move around, as it IS an major peak, cars might not be avaiable without a reservation before you leave.

would check out a car before, so you can do your resaerch on the rentals beforehand, get a good one and avoid some with bad reputation. check the car renatls section and the oppinions in the forum. scroll down a bit too so you would see the writings about the very few "black sheeps" in the renatl business, too.
have a great christmas week
