Steve
Hi,we returned on Tuesday AM at gatwick on the Virgin flight leaving Tobago on Monday night after 2 weeks,Fantastic sevice, all cabin crew on top form, plenty of chilled champagne although it seemed a party had been in progress from Grenada they were obiously prepared.
We stayed at the Coco Reef at the Sunset Villa, the staff at this hotel are amongst the best I have encountered any place we have stayed,we have stayed there twice before in the last 2 years.Loved the Island and wanted to see it in the wet season.
The weather was great for the first 8 days then mostly rainy with occasional sunny bits and lots of rain and very high humidity,we still managed to have a great time and will be returing for our usual jolly in December.
I have a couple of seats on hold with excel and I think they are around £1500 each return for one class,it seems very good value so long as the service is as described in their brochure.
My travel agent manged to secure me a 2 for one deal with Virgin this time round very reasonable around £1800 but no Limos(lifes a bitch).
The first time we flew I felt that it was a substandard Club service with BA,and moaned bitterly to them ,to no avail.Next we flew Vigin to Barbados and then on the liat to Tobago.
I think your site is most useful and very informative Well done!.
Best Regards

Hi Sean – same flights (30/6-15/7)
for other travellers info:
Virgin are currently using the old format 747-400 (1), ie, all premium upstairs and upper at the front split into two sections – bar rows 6/7/8/9 separated rows 11/12 just curtained off from economy. Sadly this format does not have the new sit around bar nor the fully reclining bedseats. (disappointing I confess) Personally I found the outward flight very good – oodles of space also the staff were superb and worked extremely hard and cheerily – a credit to the airline - drink plentiful, smoked salmon ran out….(carrying 27 passengers??) needless to say the pre-flight club lounge and salon are as excellent as ever.
Return flight was less so – seats had obviously been used and our overheads were already in use. We had also been allocated row 12 - noisy kids behind in economy, curtain never fully closed and seats which did not recline at all adequately…. Staff did not seem so great, although they did swop two seats with staff members travelling when it became obvious that sleeping comfortably was not an option in that row. – Alas they were not mine though mother and manager from Coco Reef were moved….meal was decidedly average. What I can’t figure is that given that they know there is a problem in those seats why are they putting fare paying passengers there to start with?
Flights were pretty much on time ..just wish there was a cure for jet lag &post holiday blues….
Will be interested to hear of your experience on excel one service….
The Islanders seem quite excited by the new Virgin service, and I gather there was quite a party to greet the inaugural flight – guess they heard John was coming (mum says u can carry the bags next time!~ )
