Any ideas for bait/lures. I have tried all sorts, but mainly use bread paste. Sometimes adding cheese, ham or other meats, but with mixed results :!:

Hi Mick

Where abouts are you fishing and what are you hoping to catch?

Cheers

parlatuvier/castera and anything bigger than the local kids I invariable have to share the rod with [-o<
Hols the only time I fish and to be honest, I just like chilling out sitting on a rock or deck.

Hi Mick

I don't think you'd go far wrong if you tried using some natural bait instead of bread.

Almost everything that's worth catching eats fish, crab, prawn or squid.

You can catch squid on small silver pirks at Parlatuvier pier, especially under the lights at night.
One of those would provide plenty of bait if you cut it into 2cm wide strips.

The kind of fish you catch would range from grunts and snapper to small tarpon and rays.

If you fancy something bigger, then there are some really big tarpon and barracuda that hang around the rocks, but best fished from a boat. Have a word with some of the local fishermen at the co-op at Castara or book a trip with Alibaba or King David. Live bait is the best method for tarpon and the local fishermen nearly always have some in the pens for tuna and kingfish.

Cheers
Steve
