Petit Careme Villa is delightfully secluded and quiet, and yet not isolated and there is a great sense of security. It is a marvellous place to stay if you are interested in birdwatching - early morning in particular sees a vast array of unusual birds who come to feed happily on the feeders, some of which come back in the evenings.
The villa is spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped in all areas. Air conditioning works efficiently and unintrusively if you care to use it, though the villa is pleasantly cool anyway. We had a couple of lovely evenings on the verandah dining with food cooked on the barbecue. There are several restaurants nearby, and also beaches, villages, shops, Buccoo Reef, and Buccoo itself, where you can buy the catch of the day from 4pm onwards.
In the villa there is a helpful guide brochure compiled by the owners to unusual places that you might not necessarily find, such as the Arnos Vale hotel with its magical gardens and birds, and the Looking Out riding stables. It was also very helpful for finding the best food shops in the vicinity.
All in all it is a lovely place to stay - with the swimming pool in the grounds and the comfort of the villa it is sometimes hard to wrench yourself away, but go exploring you must, because Tobago is a beautiful island.
