castara reef - on apersonal note!

Hello snorkellers

we would love to address you once more about castara reef (and surely other reefs, too).
since we live right in front of the reef, we do see snorkellers walk on the reef on a daily basis. it hurts us because it hurts the reef and if bad luck it hurts you as well. sadly many snorkellers don't like to be advised not to do so and just ignore us.

PLEASE! if you like to swim or snorkel in little bay (or heavenly bay) in castara, enter the water within the left third (facing the water). on the right the reef reaches almost up the beach when it is low tide.
don't stand on the reef. swim over to the sandy area on the left if you can't adjust your mask floating!

the reefs all over the world are not in best shape because of polution already, they don't need us to walk on them to suffer even more!

hope that a few people who plan they holiday read this and we have to shout a little less from our balcony to keep our reef in better shape!

thanks for taking the time to read this, have a great, relaxed and laid back time in tobago

Thanks for putting that out there. =D>

Maybe you could hang a big sign from your balcony and then throw rocks at those who don't comply.

you could come and make that a job...on a little life guard tower
maybe it sounded a bit too negative...so on another note: thanks to those who try to inform the other snorkellers about it =D>

Hugh

We could job share :D

It's great to be reminded Steph.
Look what's happened to Buccoo reef and that is massive when compared to Castara reef.

Look after your reef Steph - it's the only one you've got.

Steve,

As long as we can spend some days off together, fishing.

Steph and Brian,

Thanks for helping to raise awareness of how fragile the reefs are. Carib Stu taught me well - don't touch. It's our future. =D>

Steve,

Will you be in Tobago this year? I will make a rare April appearance and then return for most of the summer.

Steph - Please forgive the thread-jack.

Hi Hugh
There's a 50/50 chance that we will be over in August, so if we do come, we can hopefully meet up for a few casts together.
