Hi,

Just curious what the deal is for getting antibiotics in Tobago. We are staying in the coco reef for 3 weeks. I have a long term illness (no it's not fatal), the symptoms of which are mostly absent / in remission. However, sods law determines that while on my honeymoon I will have symptoms.

Currently I take a variety of pills, mostly antibiotics (Mertronidazole, Amoxycillin, Flucloxycillin, Lymecycline...) in large doses for short periods.

When I was in India i could get these over the counter without prescription... just wondering if I need to take a suitcase full of pills with me or not?

Hi Mark

I am sorry to hear about your illness and hope that the following information helps you to better plan your holidays in Tobago.

I just spoke to Sinanaan's West End Pharmacy in Bon Accord about the antibiotics etc. The information I received is that Mertronidazole and Amoxycillin are readily available, however Flucloxycillin and Lymecycline is difficult to get here.
For the first two mentioned you would need a prescription, antibiotics are usually not sold over the counter.
All the best
