Great Holiday

We are just now coming back down to earth after a wonderful two weeks in Tobago. We stayed in the Rex Turtle Beach hotel on a room only basis, with the intention of seeing as much of the island as we could by hiring a jeep for the majority of the stay.
I booked a tour of the island for our second full day there (and a day ahead of the jeep coming) with Yes Tourism following such glowing recommendations on this site. We weren’t disappointed…. Patrick proved a very friendly and highly knowledgeable host making sure we got everything we wanted out of the day and providing us with a great insight and the confidence to go it alone! Doing this tour allowed us then to plan where we wanted to return, to explore further, and also gave us some experience of the roads. We were in a very small group (2 families) and Patrick gave us his full attention throughout the tour showing us his obvious enthusiasm for the job and Tobago (many thanks Patrick!).
The following day the jeep arrived, again all booked ahead through Yes Tourism. The representative from Shermans, a very friendly lady, was right on time and gave us a very thorough talk about the island and the vehicle before leaving us to our own devices…..by this time we were chomping at the bit to get going!! I must admit to some trepidation when my 11 year old daughter insisted that we hire the Suzuki Jimny….as it “looked the best”, after reading Steve’s scathing comments on comfort levels I did wonder if we were doing the right thing!! However, I have to say, that we found it great fun and would definitely hire one again, my 6’5” husband found it extremely comfortable for both driving and getting in and out of……and it did look good on the photo’s!!
We ate out most nights at a different restaurant (will do a separate dining review) and even when the car had gone back on our penultimate day, we took a taxi to the Polo Bar rather than eating in the hotel, a cheaper option even including the taxi fare!
We had a fabulous time and I’m sure we will be going back…..we left just enough things still to do to give us the excuse! Thanks again to Steve for a great informative site, and to Patrick at Yes Tourism for arranging everything so seamlessly.
