We're staying at Grafton Beach Resort from 6 Oct for 2 weeks.

Could anyone tell me whether or not there is internet access there or nearby as I need to leave a contact for work.

Thank you
Wendy

Hello Wendy

I used the internet at the Grafton last year - it was very slow!

I can't tell you their address so suggest you contact them direct

Hi Steve,

Trust you are well. Only two weeks to go now. Must thank you for the terrific information I have gathered from this site and the forums. Really looking forward to our trip and will take lots of the sort of photos you are after.

One question about internet access. I will probably take my laptop to keep in touch with work, but probably for extra Tobago info from your site. Have read the forums and your advice, but just wondered as an update whether you still suggest Opus as best option for temporary access.
Staying as you know in private villas.

Any latest info gratefully received.

Kind regards
James

Hi James

Good to hear from you again. Luck sod – only two weeks to go. I’ve still got two months to go, with a house move in between.

TSTT is the ONLY provider with dial-up to a local (toll free) Tobago number and a full 56K connection. However, trying to organise anything with TSTT, particularly if you haven’t got a local landline account with them, is grief of the ultimate order. You can’t organise it on-line and can only arrange it at the TSTT Scarborough office. Allow half a day.

Opus is a small provider based in Trinidad. You have to dial a POS (Port-of-Spain) number, but this costs only a little more than a local Tobago number, so no big deal. You only connect at 33.6K maximum, but the lines are so bad in Tobago that you will seldom get a full 56K with TSTT anyway. My (few) dealing with Opus have been with Peter Wimborne, who I assume owns the business. I have found him to be very helpful, efficient and flexible. He has replied to all email promptly and if I was only going for two weeks and simply needed email access, he would be my very first port of call.

Reference information from myTobago.info is the least of your problems. Please just email me personally ([email protected]) and let me have your address. In view of your support for Andy Harries, I will be delighted to burn and send you a complimentary copy of the site on CD-ROM. This will contain the full current site, with the exception of the forum. I somehow don’t think you would want to install MySQL, PHP and Apache Web Server on your laptop just to read the forum.

Have a great trip and please be sure to let us know how you get on. Yes, lots of digital piccies will be much appreciated. Have your read my recent plea for photos of local life and restaurants (interior/exterior, day/night)?

Steve,

Once again you come up trumps. I have seen Peters email address in the forum so will get in touch with him at Opus.

The plea for photos was what prompted me finally to take the laptop, apart from email for work and about 1.5gb of music for me to relax to with my rum punch. Happy Days :D

I am also delighted that you have asked for photos of bars and restaurants, because I intend to spend plenty of time in as many as possible. Right up my street :!:

Thank you very much for the offer of the CD. Really appreciated. I have emailed my address separately.

Tobago beckons :D
Regards
James
