Snorkeling with Ali Baba

We went out on 2 snorkeling trips with Ali Baba. The captain was a delightful young man by the name of Quacey. He is a native of Castara, so the sea is his back yard. He knows all the good snorkeling places to go & he's a great conversationalist. The boat is well-maintained & Quacey know how to pilot it -- when he's going against the current, he doesn't hit every wave full-on, so the bouncing is kept to a minimum. The price is reasonable, too. Great rum punch for afterwards!!

Sorry about that -- Paul!!

Yes, one of our favorite places to snorkle from Ali's boat was Arnos Vale. Great reef with a wonderful variety of critters, including the "green monster" that Paul referred to. It is a 4' Morey Eel that lives at the north end of the reef. I was lucky enough to see him relocating from one hole to another, so got to view him in his entirety. He was about eight feet down, & the water was very clear, so I had a wonderful view. Paul discovered him in 2008.

It was at least 8 feet long, had long sharp teeth and looked like it has never had a good day and wants to share it's issues with a nice tastey snorkeller ... come on, let gets the facts right
