My new(ish) partner, Clare and I are due to visit Rex Turtle Beach 1st Jan '04 for 2 weeks. I have visited the Rex Turtle Beach twice previously but this will be Clare's first trip to the Caribbean and Tobago, so as you can imagine she is buzzing with excitement everytime our approaching holiday is mentioned. (So am I)

Clare has 2 children from her previous relationship (disastership) a 3 & 6 year old. The holiday is booked for just the 2 of us at the moment, but we have recently been considering taking the children. This has raised a couple of questions...

A) Is there an evening babysitting service available at Rex Turtle Beach?

B) I saw on one of the posts that there is a sporadic supervised creche at Rex Turtle Beach. Does anyone have any details on this?

C) Any advice for a first time 'Dad' taking 2 young children to Tobago is more than welcomed...

Regards

Tim

Hi Tim,

Having stayed at this hotel on many occasions before with four kids between the ages of 2 to 12, I happen to know that there are babysitting services available at any hour. My husband and I took advantage of this many times when we wanted to go out for a meal or some dancing. You just ask at the reception and they give you the details and arrange everything.

Also there is the kid's club which is fun for the younger kids as they do lots of local crafts, play games, go for walks in the gardens etc....

Three of my four kids are girls and they all got their hair braided by Mary and their nails done by Rachael. Both these ladies are located on the beach itself and are quite popular with the quests. Rachael paints butterflies, flowers, dolphins any thing on the tiniest of nail so I am sure that if any of your kids are girls they would definitely enjoy this.

Lots to do and see at this hotel and on the island for both adults and kids, so I am sure that when you and your girlfriend visit you will have a good time with or without the kids.

John, Michelle,

Thanks for the info.

Michelle, both the children are girls so your suggestions are great. Although, I have to say out of the 2 of us, Clare still is the one who has reservations about taking the girls. So we'll have to see.

John, that's great about the pool, but does that mean there's a chance I'll arrive to a building site on the 1st Jan 04? To be honest the 2 times I've been before I haven't ever felt the need for a dip in the pool and don't really understand people who complain about its size. Hardly anyone uses it..... probably something to do with the fact the caribbean sea is within spitting distance or something....? ;-)

Once again thanks to you both.

Tim
