Rain What Rain?

Arrived Thursday, v.v.hot, v.v.v.dry. Not seen a drop in the Arnos Vale area. Water is only being pumped a couple of times a week.
Talking to local people it is pretty serious and some say the worst drought/dry season in forty years. Certainly makes you appreciate a basic resource and think about how to use it sensibly. After four days i don't smell too good :^o
Still paradise though!!!
Will update any changes observed.

Simon,

besides the effects of the drought, which we can't ignore, it is a sad fact that in almost all areas of Trinidad and
Tobago there is NO permanent water supply, even under normal conditions.
Therefor almost everybody should, better to say must have water tanks to store water for those longer or shorter periods without supply.
I am extremely surprised that you apparently found accomodation where there were no provisions made to store
water in the absence of supply in the "mains". I did not imagine an owner of a guest house would be that brave.
I want to assume this is absolutely the exemption from the rule ....

Enjoy your stay anyway.

Andy

Hi Andy,

You took me too literally, we do have water storage but not unlimited, and i have been able to shower! It is still very dry although keeps threatening rain but just won't drop other than a few spots this morning.
I believe, talking to friends, Trinidad central has been flooded today.
We can see several fires in the distance that have been burning most of the day, just hope nobody has been hurt or lost property..
