I had the distinct pleasure of staying at "The Naturalist" for the first the first three weeks of April...not knowing what to expect before or after arriving I can say that my stay in Castara was more than expectations can put in to words. My stay at the Naturalist was relaxing and glorious, with Ancle (the Owner/Manager) and his very accommodating staff can be given 5 stars for their treatment of their guests. The people who live in the Village of Castara could not have been more friendly and charming, if you are planning a trip to Tobago and you want a bit of everything, quietness, swimming, great food, great company, Turtle watching boat tours, waterfalls excursions and of course Sunday School you must make Tobago your next trip and stay at The Naturalist. A special thanks to Ancle and his staff, Loady and Soca Boat Tours, Catherine @ the Bake & Shark Shack on the beach (by the local hangout :) Marvin @ D'Lime Bar, Stella at the little place where I got my souvenirs and so many more wonderful local people that I had the great pleasure of meeting and hanging with while I spent my time in Castara. Oh and the Boat house at Little beach next to Castara Bay and Rebecca at the Blue Mango Restaurant, so many special people whom I'll never forget...When in Castara do as much as you can, Wednesday & Sat the local woman bake bread and rolls in clay ovens (yummy) ... try the Bake & Shark, Roti, Dolphin, Tuna, Kingfish, Crab & dumplings, baked chicken and special rice...Oh and you must book a boat trip with Loady out to the Nylon Pool and No-Man's Land it's a day you won't forget... BBQ fish & chicken and the most delicious potato salad :) ... try the mangoes, papaya, breadfruit and guava it's simply exquisite.
I plan to come back to Castara very soon and visit ... but this time I will plan to stay longer there is so much to do in Tobago a timeless, unchartered, unspoiled, charming Island that is so easy to fall in love with ... you won't want to leave.
