New Government in T&T

Yesterday, May 24th, the general elections in Trinidad and Tobago resulted in a landslide
victory for a coalition of the former opposition parties UNC, COP and TOP.
New Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago is Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, UNC, the first female
Prime Minister in this country.
According to the manifesto of this "Partnership of the People", the focus of the new government
will be much more on infrastructure, health, security and environment rather than industrialisation.
We all sincerely hope to see significant improvements to that regard in the future.
I want to congratulate the two victorious candidates in Tobago and their voters who evidently
make Tobago an active part of this long overdue change.
