Hi! Whatever u do in Tobago do not stop on the south of the island, rent a car and get to Charlotteville, a small fishing village right on the seaside, no hotels or resorts here just some guest houses...if you are looking for an extremely quite place, people not only interested in your pocket, rasta men, and the best beach on Tobago do not miss Charlotteville.
With a jeep it will take about 1 to 1 and a half hour to get here, you can park and hang arouond looking and the fishing men as they do their job, talking to very friendly people, take a dip in the sea which here is wonderful and if you are feeling up to it get to the best beach on Tobago, called Pirate's Bay (or the Italian Beach from local rastas playing football here sometime!).
The small road leading to the stairs (about 170 of them!) leading to the beach is very dirt, rough and a bit dangerous if you are not an expert driver so be warned...and make sure you have a coconut juice from the Rasta man on the beach.
The beach is simply wonderful, nearly always deserted, very good for snorkelling or laying around drinking coconut water.

Thanks for the input Enrico. I'll be on Tobago for two weeks at the end of November and have booked an entire week at Man-O-War Bay Cottages in Charlotteville - can't wait! Sounds like I made a good decision :)
