Hi Kim We are trying to put together a list of reputable glass-bottom boat and reef charters at the moment, but this is unlikely to be finished until after our next visit in Jan/Feb. In the meantime, my resident "sailing expert" on Tobago is Steve Willis of Kalina Cats. You might care to contact him at [email protected]. Another thought is a firm that have been regular supporters of this forum - Yes Tourism. They are a Destination Management service - organising everything a visitor needs - so would probably be able to put a whole package together for you. They can be contacted at [email protected]. Both of these are highly reputable firms.

Thank you for your help Steve!! I loved visting Tobago when I lived in Trinidad and just thoguht it would be nice for friends frm UK to have the same experience. I understand though a trini get a mjrly different price from a foreign person and have been worried that I am going to be ripped off now that I am based in the UK, accent and all. Yes Toursim actually wrote to me direct, thank again and have to say this site is a brilliant idea and works so well-fantastic for putting our pre-wedding worries to rest

Hi Kim I've just returned from 2 weeks in Tobago, spending a lot of time diving. There's already a reply re. the Nylon pool etc - several companies offer that Glass bottomed boat trip, and it's loverly. As for a day's diving, again there are numerous Dive Shops on the island, most are pretty good, and prices are fairly similar for standard diving or learning. I dived with Adventure Eco Divers and they were terrific. have a great time.

Hello Richard, I completed my PADI in Barbados last yr and have not dived this yr-so really not sure if drift diving is for me. Did you go diving nearer Scarbourgh or North part of Tobago? How much did the Bucco Reef/Nylon Pool cost- I thought booking it for 40 people in advance would be best - but I have been getting repliesdirect to myemail address charging $75US (PLUS BBQ on No Man'sland). Yikes. Kim ps no glasses on sorry if it does not read well!

Hi Kim Okay - many of the dive operators (incl Adventure Eco Divers) provide both boat and shore dives, so a beginner/refresher non-drift dive would be easy to do if you wish. There are also several boat operators who'll provide Nylon Pool and Bucco Reef trips. Mine cost $26US for about 3hrs and included a snorkel in Bucco Reef, a drift (glass-bottomed boat) over the Coral Gardens and a swimin the Nylon Pool. I'm sure with your size of party you could negotiate even better rates. I organised mine through my hotel, so didn't catch the name of the operator - sorry. Hope this helps, Richard

Hi Kim, You probably will pay more for most things by not being a local. I have been to Tobago twice, both times with a Trini friend of mine, and we got very good "deals" on accommodation etc. I am returning this February with my husband (we are both Canadian), and I am expecting that we will be paying more. But I figure why not, I think it is commendable that hotel operators would offer better rates to locals, it shows they are not out to make a quick buck! I hope you enjoy your stay, and have a great wedding!! Jennifer Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
