If you had only six days, where would you go?

Let's assume it is your FIRST trip to Tobago. You haven't seen any of the sights. You have only read about the multitude of tours and scenic spots you can go. Your trip will be a one week trip, but by the time you get there, settle in and include preparation to return, not to mention some time for rest in there, you only have about maybe 3 to 4 actual days to go out and see the sights. Soooo....

Where would you go in those 3 or 4 days?

It depends what you like ... whether you are a bird watcher, water sports enthusiast, walker, sun worshipper or a generally inquisitive tourist ... Tobago has everything to suit all tastes.

Regards

Must agree with Pete - different strokes for different folks .
That said the first thing we always do in a new country is drive. First day out and about. Very diversified landscape and getting lost an experience - took us all over the island - arrived back with a much better idea of where we were.
So much depends on what rocks your boat so a little more info. and sure you will have loads of replies .
Not a great help I know but too large a topic !

Ok perfectly understandable about different tastes in activities whilst on the Island so I will be more specific about our tastes.

We are still fairly young and healthy and enjoy hiking trails and exploring.

We like visiting historical sites.

We are interested in a boat tour with some swimming and snorkeling.

We are very interested in the 4x4 adventure inland too.

Having a nice fruity rum drink at a bar or scenic restaurant.

We like to take a lot of pictures and videos.

Hi Richard

Although you may prefer to hire a car and just 'do your own thing', the problem is that you miss so much by not knowing what you are seeing. One bit of rainforest looks just like another to most of us and who's to know that a particular lichen-covered rock is actually part of an interesting historic sugar mill.

Therefore, for historical sites, I must recommend you to Patricia Lewis - a fellow Canadian who has lived on Tobago for over 25 years. See our History pages for more info and contact details.

Boat tours, including swimming and snorkelling. By far the most popular choices are Island Girl or Cocomotion. See our Sailing article for more details.

For 4x4 adventure (highly recommended) there is only one serious choice: Fab Ceppi of Tobago Now. See our Off-road Safari page for further info.

For a romantic drink with (hopefully) a wonderful sunset scene over Buccoo Reef, try a Happy Hour drink at the Pavillion Restaurant at Stonehaven Villas at Black Rock/Grafton. Might even be worth treating yourself and staying on for a meal. Expensive, but can be very good there. At least the Happy Hour drinks won't break the bank.

Pictures and videos - you will be spoiled for choice.

Steve, all great suggestions!

I would add, if you like the beach, visiting Pigeon Point. Just make sure a cruise ship is not docked.

I love Speyside, including snorkeling and lunch at Jemma's.

Headed to Tobago on Friday

I hear so much about Jemma's. All the tour guides take their clients there as part of the run. It must be "the" place to go for lunch! And It will definitely be on our "must do" list!
