Good exchange rate at the moment.
According to internet currency converters its around TT$10.80 to the pound.
I know its not always the same when you get in the bank but still pretty good.

When would you suggest changing money?
I don't go until may 04 but would happily start now if it was prudent!
Also, would a good exchange rate now make booking car hire now sensible? (or is that irrelevant as you'd only pay a deposit?).

There's the $64,000 question. Don't expect me to stick my neck out and predict whether the currency is going to go up or down, please.
Anyway, to answer your question. The car rental agencies are only likely to take a deposit. In fact, if you use our recommended service - Yes Tourism - they don't even take a deposit. Mind you, I'm sure you could twist there arm and persuade the rental company to take the money now.
Have fun!

Marc,I took stirling travellers cheques and in the banks in Scarborough got an exchange of 10.158TT's to the pound and 10TT's commision on any amount.A lot of folk take US$ which I believe is an expensive and cumbersome way of trading as you are playing with three currencies.Take stirling and change it on Tobago.Have a great time

re USD to TTD
Isn't this rate tied. The graph on yahoo shows a flat line so the rate to look at is the GBP to USD. Of course there will be 2 lots of commission.
