LGC review

I'll try and keep this short and sweet. We stayed for the first week of our holiday at LGC, primarily to be pampered at the spa. We're not usually all-inclusive types, preferring to travel independently, so I was pleasantly surprised at this hotel.
The food was always good (especially their jerk fish - really hot, much, much hotter than their jerk chicken for some unfathomable reason, anyway I digress). Some nights it was buffet style and other nights they laid on full waitress service.
The pool was one of the best I've ever been in. Decent size, and you couldn't taste any chlorine. For a while I thought it might have even been a freshwater pool, but then I saw them chucking the chlorine salts in one evening.
We had a room with a jacuzzi, which was heavenly!!! We spent a few evenings watching amazing sunsets (albeit through the latticework) with a glass or two of bubbly, a luxury definitely worth paying for.
Rooms are huge, as are the beds. If I have to find a fault here it would be the bathroom was a bit old and tired looking, and the toilet kept blocking.
Staff were lovely, especially the restaurant and bar staff, who appeared as if they couldn't do enough for you, and didn't even get fazed by obscure cocktail requests!
Now, my main gripe. We chose LGC because it had the biggest spa on the island, but was pretty unimpressed by the whole experience. It's not particularly relaxing to be rushed through treatments, and because their schedule was so jam-packed with appointments it was impossible to book alternative treatments or swap times. If anyone is thinking of booking a hotel primarily for the spa I'd recommend the Coco Reef instead. If the spa thing is just a bonus then don't let me put you off staying at LGC. However, to end on a better note, we did have the most wonderful peppermint bath there!
