Cambleton Beach Hike

There is a second (Pirate's Bay being the first) great hike out of Charlotteville. Head south out of the village, past the entrance to Man-O- War Bay Cottages, about 1/3 mile to the top of Cambleton Hill. Where the road turns from pavement to dirt, you will see on the right (ocean side) a house with a large covered storage area facing the road. It is the last structure you will see. Look for the path angling down and to the right through the grass. The trail is the only access to Cambleton Beach. The hike from this point is about 20 minutes, through the rain forest to the beach. The beach is a protected cove. Often there is pretty good body surfing. If you are inclined, and have gear you can swim with, it is a wonderful and safe (in normal wave conditions) snorkel back to Charlotteville over the reefs. About a thirty minute swim along the shore.

Hi Kathy

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for mentioning that. If memory serves me correctly, I last visited that beach in 1960 - but you could only get to it by boat in those days. For the life of me I couldn't remember the name, so thanks for pointing it out.

I shall be in Charlotteville in a few weeks time and would love to pay it a visit again. Sadly, I screwed up when arranging my itinerary and didn't allow enough time there, so suspect I won't get the time.
