myTobago – your questions, review and comment about Tobago

If we have room in our suitcases, are there things the people in the Castara area might be able to use? without it seeming like we're giving charity? I'm used to bringing to Cuba suitcases full of stuff for the kids etc. However, in Grenada we just bring things for friends, and tip... Same we were told for St. Martin, not to bring anything.
Just wondering if there's something light and useful we might bring to pass around - to local fishermen, our maid, etc? Thanks!

the availability of goods of whatever kind in Tobago has improved significantly and i can hardly think of
anything what may be scarce in Trinidad and Tobago.
I think the way you move in St. Martin and Grenada will be appropriate.

Not sure what the situation is in Castara; we stay in a very non tourist area of the Island and like you do in Grenada take specific things for friends. I would however like to suggest a few things that you might bring to give. Books, new or used. Books are very expensive and not easy to obtain...main library still closed, few places to buy books and let's be real few people have or can afford e-readers. Lots of kids have bikes, but no tools to fix them; though they do pretty well with what they have. Tire patch kits, some small bike tools. We also bring t-shirts (sports ones, local events...marathons, TO street fairs, etc.)....some of the kids we know could use something new to wear. A T-shirt is not considered charity.
