We fly out of the damp on Saturday and have just changed our avatar to show our youngun (Yanni) who will be making his first trip.

He doesn't get a luggage allowance but uses an awful lot of ours.

10kg for food.
10kg for car seat.
toys, clothes, nappies.

Good job Excel give us 40 Kg each but I can't see on their site where we
would get 40kg cabin luggage and how would that fit in the overhead lockers.

I'm some 30 years out of date with dealing with youngsters like yours, but will no doubt get some experience in February when our son, daughter-in-law and 15-month old joins us for the last two weeks of our trip.

I therefore speak without authority when I suggest that you leave the weight behind and buy locally. There's been a variety of posts over the months on the subject and the impression I get is that you can get pretty much everything you want on the island. It may not always be the brands you are used to, but the essentials are there.

I would particularly suggest leaving the car seat. All the good rental agencies will have child seats, so why lug that with you?

Sorry about the typo on Cabin Baggage. The figure I quoted is, of course, the allowance for Checked Baggage. I don't know what the allowance is but shall immediately contact Golden Caribbean to check and will ammend the site (and post notification here) a.s.a.p.

Well a lot of the stuff is because my wife is nervous and wants to ensure Yanni is OK. We hope the hotel can boil some fish and veggies up for mushing.

As for the car seat we need to get to the airport which will require him to be strapped in and again Cath want Yanni to be comfortable and safe. Also he was younger and in a smaller seat when we originally booked up everything. We could have sat him in that while waiting and in restaurants etc so didn't book a car seat.

I'd probably be happy to take the risk but Cath is more reluctant.

I've just heard back from Golden Caribbean. Cabin luggage is restricted to one or two pieces, totalling no more than 5Kg, in any class I'm afraid. Similarly, the 2 pieces/40Kg per person checked baggage applies for all three classes.
