Grateful for a steer on exactly the best areas for bonefishing for flats - intend to use a guide initially but any local knowledge appreciated - aware that Friendshipand Buccoo are good prospects ..are they accessible by wading only?

Kind regards

Steve

Hi Steve

Have you checked out the fishing section under the 'activities' section via the home page? A bit of info on the flats fishing available there.
Buccoo flat is accessable only by boat but some of the local beaches e.g Pigeon Point will turn up bones when the water isn't full of swimmers and glass bottom boats.
Friendship is wadeable, although (being on the Atlantic side) can be prone to strong breezes and surf/dirty water. Not as condusive to sight casting.

You can catch bones on fly gear, bait and lures, so whatever your preferred method/tackle, you could get lucky.

Loads of other species of fish to try from the shore e.g barracuda, tarpon, snook, Jacks, snapper (check out the picture gallery at the end of the fishing article).
Best to take your own rod(s) and reel(s) as there is none to hire locally, except when using the services of a guide.
Kester Herbert is your man if you are looking for a good flats guide.

When are you going?
I would be happy to provide more details based on the time of year etc.

I have just put together a PowerPoint presentation on Fishing in Tobago
20 MEGs of pictures and text. I'll burn one for you if you cover postage etc. My email address is [email protected].
Drop me a line and we can chat about the fishing.

Cheers
Steve
