We stayed at Tamarind cottage, one of 3 beautiful apartments that make Castara cottage. the cottage was just yards from the beach down a fairly steep track, the only difficulty being whether to turn, right for Little Bay or, left for Castara Bay. Tamarind is surrounded by trees making the verandah completely private but still offering perfect views across to the bay.The apartment is really spacious and the bed really comfortable. We found the standard of cleanliness to be very high, the shower was surprisingly powerful and the water hot.
Our breakfast were a delight with brightly coloured birds coming to check on what was available. The people of Castara were very welcoming, and this is very much a working community who happen to attract a few.visitors. It is definitely not a tourist resort, more a place that will allow you to be absorbed into the daily life as much or as little as you want. There are local lads who will be keen to take you on boat trips for snorkelling and even offer to cook for you, but you won't be hassled in the way that can happen in busier islands. There are plenty of places to eat and its well worth going to the coffee shop for, breakfast.,., menus are rare, just ask what is on offer then, sit back and watch the world go by whilst it its freshly cooked for you. evening entertainment could be had at the Boat House, which is right on the, beach, where you could try your hand at, limbo, also bbq at the coffee shop with steel pan band, plus a party night at Blue mango, or travel further to Buccoo to experience the not to be missed Sunday school. A great holiday in beautiful surroundings
