We arrived at Gloucester Place late in the evening, having rented a car and navigated our way (driving on the left side of the road with immense caution) through the island in the dark. Not an easy drive in the dark. To say we arrived feeling somewhat fragile would be an understatement. But Bea and Win, the incredible, gracious owners of Gloucester Place greeted us with beers and food and open arms. We stayed the first two nights in the main house of the B&B, our room was spacious and airy, as is the whole house. One of the best features of the house is the amazing balcony, that juts out over the hillside and overlooks the infinity pool and and the ocean below. The house itself is open and lovely.

After the first two nights, we moved into the cabin, 20 yards up the driveway away from the main house. This was the best bit of our stay. We loved the self sufficiency of the full, open kitchen, the wall of windows that opens onto a beautiful hillside covered with trees & flowers. And the cabin itself is simple, spacious, open-plan and elegant. Off the kitchen is a porch where we spent hours lounging, watching local birds come and go from the feeders hanging above. A bonus was Wonder, Bea & Win's dog, who befriended us and would come up every now again to check up on us and hang out. Don't be turned off by his initial barking. He's a lovely, sweet (and intelligent) dog.

The place down the street is a local bar/dance place with an irregular, strange schedule of being open/closed. But if you're looking for a close restaurant meal or bar, that's the place to go and Bea & Win know the owner.

If you want to explore the island or go into town for a meal, having a car is essential. But we found that relatively inexpensive and there is parking at Gloucester Place. We were looking for somewhere off the beaten path with a feeling of both remoteness and self-sufficiency and Gloucester Place definitely ticked those boxes.

The locals at every place we went to were warm. We never felt out of place.

The island is lovely, the diving was great, but the real gem (and the reason we would go back), is for Bea, Win (& Wonder!) and the great home they have created in Gloucester Place.

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful b+b at the north of the island, castara is particularly beautiful. Do go to joanna in parmalatuvier for an evening meal, she is a superb cook, bea can help you out with this.

Look out for wonder the dog who has adopted the house!!!

I stay into the Essex Cottage as Bea and Win were overseas. However they keept in contact with their landlord (the wonderfull "Reggie") everyday to asure that everything was running well.

My husband and me arrived, late at night. The landlord in charge of the property was waiting for us in front of the door. He was very very kind in all moment, also very helpfull in meeting all our needs.

The sorroundes of the cottage are beautiful, lots of birds, exhuberant nature everywhere, magnificent view, it is a paradise. The beaches close to Gloucester are beautiful and the whole area is full of peace and beauty. From the cottage you can see the house of Gloucester place which looks very pretty too.

The cottage is comfortable, clean, well maintened and also well equiped to spend nice holidays. The beach and bath towels are really good. We just missed a bit of TV sometimes at night but that is something personal. The terrace is excellent to take the morning cofee and enjoy all the presents that mother nature has for us. We were lucky that we were home alone so the beautiful pool was entire for us. The pool has a beautiful view and it is very relaxing.

The place is an excellent choice for those who love nature and peace. The ubication is a bit far from the city and the noisy civilization so itīs depends on everyone expectactions of holidays. Anyway if you want to know Tobago a bit better, it is highly recomendable to hire a car, it is worth!! We really enjoyed our time there, we met good fellows overthere and we definitively recomend the stay there.

We stayed in the concord room for three nights in April 2012. Everything was amazing! Bea and Win (and Wonder the dog) were extremely nice and we were made to feel like this was our home from the start. The accomodation and property are excellent. The location was great, close to nice beaches and walking distant to Glasgow's Bar and Parlatuvier Bay. Bea and Win will cook you dinner or there are good options in Castara which is about a 10 minute drive. We wish we had stayed here longer and we hope to return to Gloucester Place and Tobago soon.

We have just returned from a fortnight stay at Essex Cottage, adjoining Gloucester Place with our two daughters, aged 17 and 18.

The Northside of the island offers peace and tranquility, combined with staggeringly beautiful scenery.

Your own transport is an absolute must to explore and enjoy what the island offers when staying here.

Our accommodation was more spacious than I had anticipated and the 'apartment' downstairs (twin bedroom with dressing area and ensuite) was perfect for our daughters.

The cottage is a hop, skip and a jump from the owner's home at Gloucester Place but we never felt that they intruded or were overbearing in any way.

They were kind enough to make arrangements for a spot of sea-fishing with a local fisherman, let us have use of their superb barbeque, wi-fi connection and phone, plus offered to do some personal washing for us in addition to all the sheets and towels.

We enjoyed their infinity pool (unheated) endlessly.

This is not the place to come for high-end fixtures and fittings, for fine dining or nightlife. Essex Cottage fulfilled our dreams of a perfect Tobagonian hide-away to lime, relax and chill.

Left for home with a heavy heart and a great yearning to return nearly a month after coming back home
