Spent two nights here when we arrived on Tobago. We were a bit nervous because of the negative reviews. In fact we had a great stay.

Firstly the negative. The feel is a bit faded in places. It was also nearly empty in the peak January season.

Now the positives. The staff were exceptional. Their positive attitude certainly made up for a few cracked tiles. Our room was wonderful with a great view over Scarborough. The breakfast was good and dinner was fine.

When the hotel reopened it was have been brilliant. It's a bit tired now but perfect for a short stay.

Needs a makeover, meaning the salt air has caused rusting to set in on many structures/ appurtenances . A good whitewashing of the outside is in order. The rooms themselves are decent, but some items need to be addressed, such as the furniture which probably dates back to the 1960's , the curtains which were somewhat dirty, and the bathroom fixtures.additionally, while not on vacation to watch tv,should replace old, boxy tv's with 32' flat screens.on a positive note, location in bacolet ,just outside of Scarborough is good and the staff is good. This was my third visit to the blue haven,I don't think they've upgraded anything since my first visit ,which was over ten years ago.

Of course I'm excited, I'm coming back to Paradise Island Tobago and my all time favourite hotel, the magical Blue Haven at beautiful Bacolet Bay.This will be my tenth visit in nine years Every time I feel it can't get any better... and then it always does.

Perched atop the cliffs, above the beach, the fabulous building is like my second home. Lovely rooms with stunning views over the rolling ocean. Magnificent terrace, fabulous reception areas. Marvellous restaurant with wonderful food. The Staff are just brilliant - friendly, attentive, efficient and so helpful. They are a credit to our wonderful hosts, the owners, Karl and Marilyn. Nothing is too much trouble.

And all of that before you even get near the Beach. What a beach. The magical crescent of sand fringed by palms swaying gently in the light breeze. The light, the warmth, the hypnotic sound of the surf as the waves break and sweep up the sand and, just in case you need even more, there it is - the cosy, welcoming "No Problems" Beach Bar.

Life doesn't get much better than this. I hope you make it to The Blue Haven Hotel in Tobago and, if you enjoy yourself even half as much as I do, you will have the holiday of a lifetime. Very best wishes, Tim Laskey.

Not knowing what to expect on our first trip to Tobago, my husband and I were extremely pleased with Blue Haven -- the service, cleanliness, and all-around welcoming atmosphere was confirmed on a daily basis. Each of the people who made our stay memorable, from the front desk to the restaurant servers to the housekeeping workers and the owner, were genuninely friendly and caring. They always remembered who we were and treated us like family...felt like a home away from home. The property itself is really lovely, from the large deck overseeing the Atlantic to the breezy open restaurant (breakfast and dinner)to the spacious pool/deck area and the lovely beach just down the path. Lunch is available at the beachside deck/bar, cooked on order and always very tasty. I would highly recommend the Blue Haven as the perfect stay in Tobago.

My family and I spent two wonderful days at Blue Haven Hotel. From the moment we entered the reception area and saw the amazing views, we knew this would be a fabulous stay. I was impressed by the modern touches to an essentially colonial style building. But it was truly the warmth of the staff that made us feel sooo welcomed.

The Hotel is located right above a wonderful beach that felt very private the afternoon we visited, although it is a public beach. My two kids (ages 2 and 8) fully enjoyed the great swimming pool, with depths from 1ft to over 6ft.

I am glad that we took Steve and Jill's recommendation to rent a vehicle. Whilst I did not have too many places to visit on this trip, I appreciated the mobility of a vehicle as the hotel is a bit far out from the Store Bay region and airport.

In summary, I would highly recommend Blue Haven Hotel, and I look forward to another visit in the very near future. If you're looking for a nice place to relax in comfortable surroundings, WiFi, close beach proximity, great restaurant, and pleasant staff then this is the place for you.
