Coco Reef Resort - Reader Reports & Opinion

Coco Reef New Building

John Gilham

When we last stayed at the CoCo Reef in May 2003 the hotel owners had just completed a new building opposite the main entrance (on the other side of the road).

The staff were tight lipped about what it was going to be but indicated it may become an additional restaurant but not part of the AI package.

Does anyone know what this bacame and if it is open to residents.

We are looking forward to revisiting this resort in September 2005.

Safety Boxes At Coco Reef

Alison S

Hi there, we are visiting Tobago and Coco Reef for the first time at the beginning of April. Excitement is mounting already and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions, but the most pressing one for my husband at the moment is the size of the safety boxes in the reception area! Are they just big enough for documents or can you get gadgets (laptop and the usual stuff some men can't live without!) into them? Cheers, Alison

Going to Coco Reef in three weeks can anyone tell me about tipping. Are there porters who take your luggage to your rooms and if you are picked up at the airport by car do you tip the driver. Can you also tell us what the acceptable tip would be?

Robbery At Coco Reef

Jenny Morris

We were having a lovely holiday at this hotel until we had money and other items stolen from our room. This complety ruined the relaxing time we were having and turned it into a nightmare. We were also were on honeymoon so this was a dreadful thing to happen. The manager kindly promised to reimburse us the money to our credit card as it was obviously a member of staff who had stolen the money. However, once we arrived home the manager initially tried to go back on the promise, and then simply ignored our emails. :(

Just Returned From Coco Reef

J Adcock

Having used this forum to gain as much information as possible before our holiday, I feel I should give our impression of the hotel. We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children aged 10 and 13). We asked for interconnecting rooms and on arrival were given 2 separate rooms, however the next day we changed room to interconnecting rooms. We were staying on a bed and breakfast basis which we felt was by far the best option for us as we did eat out quite a bit (Sunday School, Jemma's Kitchen, Bonkers and Cafe Coco - we enjoyed them all!) The staff in the hotel were always very friendly and helpful and we thought the food was great - (we didn't eat upstairs in the expensive restaurant though). The sunbed bagging on the beach was very annoying, and starts very early, at least before 7.00am. I think it is up to the hotel to put a stop to it - i'm sure they could. There is plenty of shade on the beach. The snorkeling just by the beach is fab, we couldnt get enough of it. We would definitely go back to the Coco Reef hotel - it was comfortbale, beautiful, very relaxed, and had good atmosphere. We did request to keep our rooms until our evening flight, but were not able to, however we had the use of a shower room in the spa which was absolutely fine.
