Coco Reef Resort - Reader Reports & Opinion

Coco Reef Resort

Pamela Sutcliffe

We have just returned from Coco Reef. The first week of our hol;iday we could not fault the hotel the room overlooked the ocean the service and food were excellent the checkin at the hotel was quick the staff waiting at tables with your name and a cocktail .But this all changed on the second week when families arrived with at least three children each. The hotel could not cope the service and menues deterioted drastically in the restuarants and on the beach. In the evening children fighting in Tamaras restuarant

We could not use any of the free water sports as the children monopolised these.

It was a special ocassion for us trying to book a table in Tamaras is difficult even at 7.00am because some people were allowed to book the night before.

There is one rule for some and one rule for the rest of us in booking tables for the evening. After contacting the management a table was found but this spoilt my birthday.

This is a beautiful hotel but be warned avoid school holidays

Help Making Reservations At Coco Reef?!?!

Kate C.

My fiance and I are attempting to finalize our plans for an October '06 wedding/honeymoon at Coco Reef. Although the staff was quick to reply (via e-mail) to my general questions about the resort and wedding, I can not get them to let me make a reservation. They will not return my e-mails, and when I finally called, they said they do not yet have rates for October '06. How is that possible? It is only 6 months from now! I am starting to regret our decision to go Coco Reef and wonder if there would be another hotel more responsive to out requests to reserve a room! Has anyone else had this problem? Should we try a different hotel?

Re Visiting In June

Neil C

Hi Steve

Just to advise we have now booked for a few weeks on your beloved Isle leaving late June. Upon mentioning our plans to friends and family we were inundated with advice from their first-hand experiences. This ranged from my sister and brother-in-law telling me they they had stayed at Turtle Beach on 3 occasions lastly about 5 years ago and that it was fantastic, too others who are just back after their fifth visit to Coco Reef and that we shouldn't even contemplate staying anywhere else. We were in a right pickle over what to do and believe it or not we tossed a coin and Coco Reef won. So we now have a confirmed booking and will advise you of our findings upon our return. In the meantime we would like to take a flight over to Venezuela for a few days sightseeing. Is this feasible and have you any tips or advice please

Coco Reef

Neil C

Hi Steve

Just arrived home from Tobago(yesterday) via Barbados. What an Island. Everything you advised me and what I read about Tobago didn't do it justice. As advised earlier we have travelled extensively around this world of ours but staying at the Coco Reef Tobago is up amoungst the most memorable and enjoyable holidays we have ever experienced. In fact you did on reflection do it justice perhaps we could not quite believe how beautiful the island is. I will if you wish give a full report but in all honesty your review of the Coco Reef is absolutely on the button. We were pampered from our arrival given room 305 which looks very similar to the photograph in your review, and owing to the 'world cup' - hotels interpretation - the hotel was quite empty and staff to visitors ratio was phenonomal. No booking for restaurant was necessary and it felt as though we were having individual service. We dined on two evenings on what I think is called the band-stand - just below the main restaurant - it was very private and exclusive so it seems. M Eric Ferniet also presented us with bucks fizz on the morning before our departure. Just lovely nice touches. We are definately going back and have made a provisional reservation for 6 people for June/July 2007. Would be happy to give a more detailed report if you so wish. Finally Isla Margarita was not too easy to get to and as we were already chilling out decided on not initiating any hassle into our new found relaxed state. Thanks again for a most informative and enjoyable site - it really did help to make our holiday so memorable

Cheers Neil

Tipping At Coco Reef?

Kate C.

we are going to Coco Reef October 7- October 16 for a stay and a wedding. I am not sure how to tip the hotel staff. Typically, at a 4 star hotel in the U.S. I would put out $5 a day. Should I do the same here?

Also, is it appropriate to tip the Social Director's office or anyone involved in the wedding? (Just the Director, a "pan man", photographer, and Minister?) How much?
