Hi Steve
Very generous of you. I'll update the database to show that prize as available just as soon as I can. Sadly, I am in the middle of technology-failure crisis at the moment - our main office server went down on Wednesday (having immediately followed 3 days without broadband) and I'm waiting for a replacement to be delivered. In the meantime, I am limited in what I can do on the sites.

Hi,
Is no-one else entering?!! I'm starting to feel bad.

. It's not true that I have all the entries. I have just done the lottery for the first time in ages though!!
I was having a terrible day on Thursday and then I went to see Spurs. 2-0 down at half time and I was miserable.

. Amazing second half, then a drinks dispenser gave me two drinks instead of one and I wondered what the third lucky break would be. I feel great now!
Thank you again Steve for a fantastic site and boy do I love the competition! Thank you also to all the people who have donated prizes. We can't wait to be back again. It's our favourite place.
Thanks,
Anthony.

Hi Anthony
One side of me had to laugh when I saw the prize-winner list; another sank with the thought that there are bound to be sceptical sods out there who think the draws are fixed. NO, they are not!
In truth, we only issued 19 tickets last month. I have to admit that I will probably not repeat the competition next year. Support last year was reasonable, but this year has been exceptionally poor and I don't know/understand why. I know I probably don't promote it enough, but to be frank, I am not a salesman and even the posts I make reminding people that the month is drawing to a close are something of an embarassment to me. The old adage "Use it or lose it" springs to mind and frankly, at moment, I am now giving serious consideration to making the site more commercial by selling advertising space and dropping the areas that require the most effort and resouces - of which the forum is top of the list.

Come on Guys & Gals
Today is the LAST day to get your competition tickets. The 2007 prize draw ends at midnight tonight (GMT) and there are still TONS of wonderful prizes still available - prizes from the very best Tobago restuarants, tour services and dive services.

Hi everyone
Its probably a little late for me to post this now, given the competition has been over for a few months but I just don't seem to have enough hours in the day to read and respond to everything on this amazing site.
I was gutted not to win anything in the competition - I am surprised that Steve says entries were poor because that should have given me better odds at winning. I spent what for me was a lot of money to get tickets for the first month and then had another go later on - but no luck. Sadly I did start to wonder if it was a fix when the same name was comming up all the time and I am new to the site so was sceptical...and this put me off. I did trust that it was fairly done though or I wouldn't have entered at all. This is the first year I had entered as found the site too late for the year before. I am now off to Tobago in six weeks but no lovely prizes to use up...oh well some people are just lucky and others not so!!!
No worries
Thanks
Caragh

Hi,
I'm sorry! You are making me feel guilty. I can assure you it is not a fix. I might buy Steve a beer if we meet up though! We are off to Tobago next week. Have a good trip.
Anthony.

Hi Steve, have you decided whether to run the prize draw this year? We will be in Tobago when the first draw is made so may just be able to take advantage of a winning ticket!!

Hi Linda
Sorry for the delay in replying, due to a last minute panic trying to get things done before we left Tobago and came home (yesterday).
To be honest, I haven't given the competition any real thought. A couple of tour operators mentioned it in passing during my trip and assured me that they would participate again. I don't think there's much doubt that most of the prize donors would come on board as usual. However, we only sold 251 tickets in last year's competition - which is an average of just 32 tickets in each of the 8 months that the competiton ran - and frankly I'm not sure that its worth the considerable amount of effort that goes into organising and running it. It did far better the year before and I can't explain the fall off this year. Anyway, its open for discussion if anyone wants to make suggestions.

Dear Steve,
as you mentioned before (not only) you did not much advertising for the competition and I guess, if we all (regular users) try to remember the "others" on the competition maybe it would run much better. I have to admit that I forgot to do my donation a couple of times because I had so many other things in mind.
In the end it is your decision because its you to do the most work on it. If you feel it is not worth the trouble and work nobody will blame you if you do not continue.
Whatever you decide to do it will not keep anyone away from this site and still thank you a lot for all the work you put in here.
Cheers
Gisela

Hi Gill
Welcome back. I hope your trip was every bit up to expectation.
No, no real thoughts on the competition, I'm afraid. To be honest, family illness issues mean that I am somewhat preoccupied and not able to give the site the attention it deserves. However, if things settle down and I get the time to organise it, perhaps I'll reintroduce the competition later this year.

Hi Steve, Yes as usual Tobago worked it's magic on me.Only had rain in the night three times in three weeks. Managed to see turtles nesting this year . The first night was unsuccessfull but not wasted. Sitting on the beach on a balmy night under the stars watching and listening to the ocean with good company is something to store away in the memory banks. With a bit of

and luck the second night brought a bonanza of 3 nesting turtles one of which was a giant, as well as hatchlings leaving the nest

Magic.
As for the competition I will wait and watch this space, but since I discovered Tobago and then found this site I am a winner already
Thanks Steve.

xx

Thanks Martin

Hi Martin.
Turtle Beach

Go to the drop down menu,Out and About/Tobago beaches and bays/region2.
Many local tour guides will pledge to call you and pick you up from your accommodation when a turtle comes ashore. There is of course a price attatched which seems to vary.I went with a Tobagonian friend and took pot luck hence the first night without a turtle in sight

. The Turtle Beach Hotel is situated on this beach so visitors there get lots of sightings. The bar on the terrace adjacent to the beach doesn't take cash but as a visitor you may go and purchase a drinks voucher from reception (min 100TT )to use over the bar.As for timing, again anytime from dusk until early hours of the morning. Turtle watching is a very speculative sport
If you go you will see wardens on the beach wearing "save our turtle" T shirts and infra red head lamps. They control the spectators and protect the turtles, They also measure them and record any identifying features of each turtle. I hope you are lucky if you try and wish you a wonderfull holiday.
Gill
