Argyle waterfalls and guides

I'd just like to note that the system at the Argyle waterfalls seems to have changed since
http://www.mytobago.info/sightseeing.php -- and our guidebook -- were written. The ticket price has gone up -- I think it's TT$30, though I'm not 100% sure -- but it now includes a guide. So you don't have to worry about getting a guide separately, and making sure it's an official guide. (Of course you're still allowed to tip your guide!)

Hi Stephen
Hmmm! The wording in the sightseeing section is:
Admission is TT$20 and you are required to hire a local guide at a cost TT$15.
so this totals TT$35. The $30 you quote is less than that, not more, but I doubt that the price has gone down and you do say you are not 100% sure. For clarity, I have adjusted the "new" sightseeing section listing for Argyle and simply quoted "$35 including a guide". I had shown the breakdown of the price to indicate to readers how little the guides got in the hope that they might be more generous with their tip if they got a good guide.

the admission is 30TT now and the guide is INCLUDED!
you just have to wait sometimes until the next guide is available.
you must go with a group with a guide, no chance to go alone.
so in a way it got cheaper!
if you book a trip ncluding the waterfall, the tour guide usually pays you fee and you can go in with him and don't have to wait for a group with the argyle guide.
have a nice day at the waterfall

Hi,
30TT for all sounds reasonable. In 2003 the official guide wanted to charge 60TT (excluding the admission fee). I cannot remember to have seen such extraordinary things besides the waterfall (maybe the bamboo?) to justify that amount and it was not very hard to find the way to the falls (an inofficial guide joined me and he charged 15TT including 2 mangoes).
Therefore, 30TT is a satisfying compromise.

the guides are not so much to find the falls, but to protect the nature arround it. no tourists wandering of the paths and littering in the forest here....

We went to the waterfalls on 23rd December. It was wonderful.
The guide is also there to hold your hand to stop you slipping on the rocks!
Do not wear flip-flops! (We saw some people coming up as we were going back down wearing flip-flops - oh dear).
I can confirm that it is $30 TT per person.
Have fun

Was at the falls Saturday, January 29th. The cost was $30TT. The guide was informed and helpful. She saw my binoculars and pointed out a few birds.
I did have some difficulty keeping her pace, rather sloooooow...but enjoyed the side trip.
