We are booked to go to coco reef bed & breakfast in March. As a 1st timer to both the island & coco reef, would I be advised to eat at the restaurant at coco reef or to leave the hotel & explore the local restaurants? If so, any recommendations?

Hi Ann,
You will have many possibilities for local experiences, and many of them are within walking distance from the Coco Reef, you will regret not having tried a few.
This new myTobago site gives good search facilities, have a look at:http://www.mytobago.info/restaurants.php (==> Eat & Sleep) and try to estimate which will meet your taste and budget. The so called Crown Point Area http://www.mytobago.info/restaurants01a.php has various possibilities, but don't forget to look at other locations too. One of my personal good experiences close to your hotel is Pelican Reef good quality for a reasonable price, just to mention one, which for me is a repeater 2 or 3 times each year.
I would suggest to print out a few pages (10 to 20 ?) of this section unless you have easy internet access overthere.
Enjoy your stay and don't hesitate to explore many parts of the island, (not only for dinner !)
Kind regards, Roel

Hello Ann, i envy you Coco Reef, you will have a fabulous time i am sure. We had a few evening meals at the hotel, but we liked to go out in the evenings and come back to the hotel later on.
The Pelican Reef which is a very short walk from the hotel was very good, we ate their fairly regularly. We also liked the kariwak (the lime pie is a must). Dillons fish was excellent although we didnt rate the surroundings particularly. We also tried Bonkers restaurant, menu a little restricted there, but a lovely evening. We liked the idea of having the freedom to eat wherever we fancied, have a wonderful time.
Regards Sue.

Ann, I would mostly eat out, because the food at the hotel is a bit overpriced. Two other good restaurants which are within easy walking distance are the Cafe Coco -- owned by the same company as the hotel, but much more reasonable -- and Best of Thyme.
