Located far down Old Store Bay Road, near Kilgwyn Bay, A Taste Of Tobago (previously trading as Food 4U) claims to be an authentic Tobago restaurant and advertises tantalisingly tasty Tobago dishes. They are open from 7pm, Tuesday to Saturday. Reservation is required.

Al-Wadi Arabian Cuisine serves Arabian fast food such as beef, lamb and chicken gyros, parsley potatoes, garlic chicken chunks, falafels and more. They are located in Spence Plaza in Old Store Bay Road. The are open from 11am to 11pm daily.

Apex Bar & Grill is a local sports bar and restaurant located in air-conditioned premises in the new complex above Penny Savers supermarket in Canaan. They are open from 11am to 2am every day except Sunday, when they are closed.

Appealing to your sweet tooth, Bago Creamy Corner is a small take-out outlet located on Pigeon Point Road. They serve various types of ice cream, plus delicacies like waffles.

Bago's Beach Bar is small beach bar café-restaurant set in an idyllic beachside location at the foot of the Pigeon Point peninsula. The bar is open from 11am to late, every day. It is a popular place to enjoy a casual light meal and socialise with friends. As such, it attracts a mixed crowd and it quite popular with the local business and expat community.

Ben's Bar

Old Store Bay Road, Crown Point

Ben's Bar is a new small local bar located close to the junction of the Milford Road and Old Store Bay, close to the Crown Point Plaza. We have no information on the bar, but believe that it is open from 10am to 10pm daily.

Betsy's Hope Restaurant

Shepherd's Inn, Old Store Bay Road, Crown Point

Shepherds Inn is a cosy and friendly hotel conveniently located in Crown Point. The hotel’s charming Betsy’s Hope Restaurant is in a charming covered-pagoda-style restaurant that overlooks the swimming pool and cabanas. It almost feels like dining outside, with the benefit of a roof. The restaurant is open to both the public and resident guests. It has undergone several changes since opening, in early 2015, but the efforts of a new chef are making it a serious contender on the local dining scene. The cuisine can is an interesting fusion between local and international. It is a great place for a drink, even when not dining, and there is normally always live entertainment on Thursday evenings.

Brown Cow

Milford Road, Crown Point

New for 2019, the Brown Cow is located on the Milford Road 'Strip' in the heart of Crown Point. With very distinctive wooden décor, the restaurant offers a fairly wide menu of primarily grilled dishes. Described by the person who notified us as "food was ok - also quirky".

Cafe Coco

Store Bay Road, Crown Point

Café Coco is owned by the Coco Reef Resort and located just a short distance behind the hotel, in Store Bay Road (first left turn from Pigeon Point Road). The café seats up to 200 and is ideal for wedding receptions and similar functions. The restaurant is, however, sub-divided into a number of smaller, very attractive, areas to ensure that patrons are never overawed by the size. The restaurant undoubtedly boasts Tobago’s nicest décor. The cuisine is perhaps best described as international grill, which seems rather at odds with the sumptuous decor. Well worth a visit. Open daily from 6:30pm.

Chef's BBQ

Milford Road, Crown Point

Chef’s BBQ is a fast food outlet located in the new 'Crown Point Casino' arcade on Milford Road, just before the Pigeon Point Road junction. It offers typical fried chicken barbeque fare with local overtones. Primarily take-away, but there are a few tables and chairs outside the outlet. Reports have tended to be very disappointing in recent years, with frequent complaints of bad service.

Church's Chicken/Pizza Boys

Corner Store Bay Local Road, Crown Point

Located in the corner of the highly distinctive bright blue two-storey complex at the junction of the Milford Road and Store Bay Local Road, just outside the airport, this fast-food outlet serves both Church’s Chicken and Pizza Boys pizzas.

Coco Reef Resort

Coco Reef Resort, Crown Point

The Coco Reef Resort is arguably Tobago’s most popular luxury resort hotel. The hotel has two restaurants open to both resident guests and the general public. Reservation is essential.

Tamaras Restaurant is the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant and serves breakfast and dinner. Meals are served buffet-style twice a week and a la carte on other evenings. The menu selections are limited, but this ensures that everything is cooked fresh. The overall standards of catering are very high and normally exceptionally well received. Highly recommended for a romantic dinner.

Bacchanals is the hotels more casual open-air beach bar restaurant. It is open for lunch every day and themed buffets or BBQ dinner most evenings. The views from the restaurant across the bay are stunning and the catering of the very highest standard. Highly recommended.

Crafter's Steak House & Grill

63 Store Bay Local Road

Located in a new building opposite the Crown Point Beach Hotel in Store Bay Local Road, Crafter's Steak House & Grill opened in April 2017. Initial reports seem to have been very positive, but with some complaints of the high prices that tend to be common in all Tobago eateries.

Crusty Crab & Sweet Lips Conch

A Trinidadian eaterie serving cajun/creole/caribbean fair for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located in the Milford Road in the heart of the Crown Point strip. Open Sunday to Wednesday from 7:00am-5:00pm, and Thursday to Saturday from 7:30am to 11pm.

D Runway Sports Bar and Grill

Crown Point Road, Crown Point

D Runway Sports Bar and Grill is located less than a minute's walk from the airport terminal. Their Facebook page indicates that they serve lunch, dinner and drinks but they provide no contact details and we have no other information about this bar.

D'Hut Corner Cuisine

Old Store Bay Road, Bon Accord

Located on the airport side of Old Store Bay Road, D'Hut Corner Cuisine is a new small local eatery offering local breakfast, lunches and dinner with homemade beverages and punches. They are open during the day on Tuesday to Saturday and during the evening on Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday lunches made to order.

D's, or Darry's Famous Foods is yet another local fast food chain serving dried chicken and poor service. Famous? I don't really think so.

Drunken Joe's

Old Store Bay Road, Crown Point

Drunken Joe’s is located at the junction of the Milford Road and Store Bay Local Road, just outside the airport. It is primarily a (sometimes) lively bar and chill-out place, but it does have a limited menu. We believe that they are open from 4pm to midnight daily.

Flavour Pot

D'Colosseum, Milford Road, Crown Point

The Flavour Pot is a small local cuisine eatery located on the ground floor of the new D'Colosseum mall opposite Pigeon Point Road. Primarily a take-out establishment, there are a number of communal tables and chairs outside the mall.

Fortune Chinese Restaurant

Milford Road, Bon Accord

A comment that I read in an online guide deserves repeating here. It said, “if you want to eat good Chinese food in Tobago, go to Trinidad”. More than 10 years later, that humorous comment still holds true. The Fortune Chinese Restaurant is undoubtedly the best-know and most popular Chinese restaurant on Tobago, but be prepared for disappointment. Open 10am to 10pm daily.

Golden Girls Bakery have an excellent reputation and are a good choice for bakery and local breakfasts.

Good Eats

Cnr Crompstain & Milford Road, Crown Point

New for 2017, Good Eats is a food outlet opposite the airport offering a variety of tasty items freshly prepared to order. Their menu includes items such as pancakes, tortillas, wraps, roast bake, sandwiches, salads and fruit. Lunch favourites include 'Jerk shrimp sandwich' and 'boneless lamb shoulder'. Open 7am to 3pm every day.

Hoppers

Pigeon Point Road, Crown Point

Located at the start of Pigeon Point Road, Hoppers is a new outlet offering a variety of local and international meals for take-out.

Intriguing Ideas

Crown Point Shopping Plaza, Crown Point

Intriguing Ideas describe themselves as “a modern Caribbean rustic restaurant cafe that serves exquisite local gourmet dishes. It is a casual dining experience with cosy ambiance and friendly family staff. If you have a culinary adventurous side, be sure to ask about the ' JUST MAKE ME SOMETHING NICE' from the menu. Your meal will be created on the spot by Food Designer, Arlene. After a few questions about your palette, she will whip up exactly what you never knew you wanted”. The restaurant is located at the Bananaquite Apartments in Store Bay Local Road and is open daily from 7am to 10pm, but closed on Tuesdays.

Jade Cafe

Milford Road, Crown Point

Located next door to their associated Jade Monkey Casino, the Jade Cafe now occupies premises previously used for the excellent Backyard Cafe. A sign outside the premises says that they are now open for dinner, but we have no other information on this cafe.

Jenny's Diner

Junction Milford Road/Pigeon Point Road, Crown Poi

Jenny's Diner is a new restaurant, located in a distinctive building at the junction of the Milford Road and Pigeon Point Road. We have been unable to find any further information on this establishment.

Kafta's

Pigeon Point Road, Crown Point

Kafta's is a halaal-certified middle eastern/Arabian take-away eatery that serves foods such as lamb kebaabs, kibbehs and kaftas. They are located at the top-end of Pigeon Point Road, at the junction with the Milford Road, and are associated with the similar local eatery, Skewers.

Kariwak Village Restaurant

Kariwak, Store Bay Local Road, Crown Point

Reader votes consistently place the Kariwak Village hotel restaurant in our list of top 10 Tobago restaurants. Housed in an open-air thatched pavilion, the hotel’s restaurant is open to the public and noted for the excellence of it’s varied menus, which feature many ingredients and herbs grown in the Kariwak’s own organic gardens. Well worth a visit!

La Cantina Pizzeria

Milford Road, Crown Point

La Cantina is a quality eat-in/take-out Pizzaria, serving more than 30 types of authentic Italian pizza, salads and panini, etc. The restaurant is located in the heart of the Crown Point “strip”, next to the RBC bank. All reports have been excellent. The only issue is that they do not accept reservations and can become crowded, so getting a table may involve a lot of luck or a long wait. They are open for dinner daily until 9:45pm and for lunch every day except Sundays.

Mangia Cafe

D'Colosseum, Milford Road, Crown Point

Located on the ground floor of the new D'Colosseum mall, opposite Pigeon Point Road, Mangia Cafe is a small cafe offering "mouthwatering Italian cuisines for eveyones palette". Primarily a take-out establishment, there are a few tables and chairs outside the cafe. We believe that they are open from 11am to 10pm from Monday to Saturday, and 4pm to 10pm on Sundays.

Mesoreen Cafe Bistro

Store Bay Local Road, Bon Accord

Mesoreen Café Bistro is a small local restaurant and bar located down Old Store Bay Road in Bon Accord. We believe that they are open from 6:30am to 11pm every day except Mondays, when they are closed.

Original House of Pancakes

Milford Road, Bon Accord

Despite the recent addition of "Original" to the name, the Original House of Pancakes have have been serving pancake breakfasts to visitors for more than 20 years. The quality of Kathy and Wayne's fare is normally excellent, but service is slow, even for Tobago, so a leisurely breakfast is mandatory. The restaurant is located to the rear of the Colours Restaurant, opposite the Milford Road-Pigeon Point Road junction. They are normally open from 9am to 12pm every day, but closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Pasta Gallery

Pigeon Point Road, Crown Point

Owned and run by Swiss-Italian Fab Ceppi and his charming Trinidadian wife Claire, the Pasta Gallery offers both dine-in and take-away dining from very accessible premises in Pigeon Point Road. Apart from being a highly competent artist, Claire is a dab hand in the kitchen and her pasta dishes are as good as you’ll find. Great service and affordable prices. They are open from 6:30pm to 10pm on Thursdays through Monday but closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Pepe's Pizza

Milford Road, Crown Point

Located on the Milford Road, close to the junction with Pigeon Point Road, Pepe's Pizza is a small Italian Pizzeria. In addition to pizzas, they offer salads and real fruit smoothies. Dine in or take away. Open from 4pm to 10pm every day except Thursdays.

Pirates Island

Pigeon Point Road, Crown Point

Pirates Island is located in the lower reaches of Pigeon Point Road, around 70m from the junction with the Milford Road. As a bar, it became a popular hang-out and meeting spot with the local business and ex-pat community. More recently, they have introduced catering, specialising in Indian dishes such as tandoori chicken and various curries.

Pizza Boys

D'Colosseum, Milford Road, Crown Point

Part of a large local franchise operation, Pizza Boys have several outlets on Tobago. This new outlet is located on the ground floor of the new D'Colosseum mall opposite Pigeon Point Road. As long as you don’t expect anything resembling a genuine deep or thin-crust Italian pizza, their offerings fill a need at a very affordable price.

R&C Taste of the Caribbean

Sandy Point Beach Club, Crown Point

R&C Taste Of The Caribbean Cafe is a semi open-air café-restaurant located at the Sandy Point Beach Club near the airport. Although they primarily cater for members and guests staying at this popular timeshare apartment hotel, the restaurant is open to the public. The sea views make it a notable place to enjoy a drink and meal in the early evening.

Renmar's Restaurant & Bar

Pigeon Point Heritage Park

Located within the Pigeon Point Heritage Park, on the upper reaches of the peninsula, Renmar's Restaurant & Bar is a popular daily luncheon spot, specialising in buffet-style local cuisine. The beachfront bar area can become quite lively at times, making it a relatively popular spot to socialise. They are open from 10am to 7pm daily.

Rituals Coffee

Adjacent to Airport, Crown Point

Rituals Coffee is a small coffee house located just a minute’s walk from the airport terminal building (immediately behind the Tourist Office/Tristar airport café building). It originally traded as Vie De France and then Restorations Coffee. Once an ideal place to while away time whilst waiting for flights, the place now has little to offer and we find the standard of service abysmal and unfriendly. Such a shame!

This new branch of the Rituals Coffee franchise chain occupies one of the ground-floor units at the new D'Colosseum mall opposite Pigeon Point Road. We have no other information.

Roosters Rotisserie & Grill

Fried chicken is rapidly becoming the national dish of Tobago and this branch of the Roosters Rotisserie & Grill franchise is just ideally situated in the centre of the Crown Point 'strip'.

Rosie's Home Style Bakery

Milford Road, Bon Accord

Rosie’s Home Style Bakery has long held the reputation of one of the most popular bakeries in Tobago. As well as excellent take-out bakery items, they serve good local breakfasts including bake-and-saltfish and other local specialities. Open 7am - 6pm Monday to Friday, 7am - 3pm Sunday, closed Saturdays.

Royal Castle

Milford Road, Crown Point

Fried chicken is almost a national dish on Tobago and you will never be far from a fast-food outlet in the more populated southwestern region of the island. Royal Castle is a Trinidadian fast food restaurant chain with franchise outlets in Crown Point and Scarborough. They are open from Sunday to Thursday, 10am-10pm, Fri & Sat 10am-midnight.

Milford Road, Crown Point

Tucked away in an alley at the junction of Milford Road and Pigeon Point Road, Scoops is a small kiosk that might appeal to your sweet tooth. They offer cookies and ice cream, plus various beverages. Main take-away, but ther are some bar stools outside the kiosk.

Simmer Down Restaurant & Bar

Crown Point Beach Hotel, Crown Point

The Simmer Down Restaurant at the Crown Point Beach Hotel primarily caters to guests at this modest beachside apartment hotel, but the restaurant is also open to the general public. The restaurant previously operated independently, as the Chart House Restaurant, but is now under the full ownership and management of the hotel. The cuisine is standard international with Caribbean influences and reports vary enormously.

Skewers

Milford Road, Pigeon Point Junction

Skewers serves grilled Mediterranean -style meats and sea food with tasty Arabian side dishes. They are apparently the only 100% halaal restaurant in Tobago. There are a couple of tables outside the restaurant for diners, or food can be taken out. They are open from 10am to 10pm daily.

Steak & Lobster Grill

Sandy Point Village, Crown Point

The Steak & Lobster Grill is a small open-air restaurant next to the sea at the Sandy Point Village apartment hotel in Crown Point. The restaurant is open from 7:30pm to 10pm daily and an a la carte menu is available. Entertainment is often provided on Friday evenings. However, the establishment has a poor reputation and caution is advised.

The Store Bay Kiosks consist of half-a-dozen near-identical small adjacent kiosks in the Store Bay beach facility complex. Each kiosk trades under the name of their owner/cook and all offer basically the same variation of popular local foodstuffs. Competition between the different outlets tends to keep value and quality high.

No fixed abode

Table for Two is a totally unique dining experience. You don’t know where you will be dining, nor what your meal will be, other than that it will be vegetarian. You are simply guaranteed a totally unique experience with yourself and your loved one being the only diners. The only way to place a booking is to complete a form on the Table for Two website. The form asks various questions about your relationship and interests that will enable your host and chef, Elspeth Duncan, to tailor a perfect experience for you both. The reports are great, so if you fancy treading off the beaten track, why not give it a go?

The Overhang Lounge

The Overhang Lounge is a lively bar and restaurant located upstairs at Jimmy’s Holiday Resort in Crown Point’s strip. They serve lunch, dinner and drinks and have three large-screen TVs constantly tuned to the latest in sports and a wide range of music including soca, dancehall, hip hop, techno, and reggae.

The Real Jamaican Jerk

The Real Jamaican Jerk is a take-out and dine-in eatery serving Jamaican and local cusine in the new Colosseum Mall on the Milford Road, opposite Pigeon Point Road. Open 10am to 10pm every day except Sunday.

Tobago Paradise Travel and Grill

Pigeon Point Road, Crown Point, Tobago

The trading name Tobago Paradise Travel & Grill is almost bigger than the premises, but charming couple Allan and Lynette are carving quite a name for the excellence of their seafood dishes from their tiny restaurant on Pigeon Point (immediately after the Conrado Resort). More than a few will tell you that this is the best place for grilled lobster. But, phone and reserve because they only have a small handful of tables. They are open from Monday to Sunday from 5:30pm to 10:30pm for dinner. Luncheon bookings can also be taken for groups of six people or more.

Trinbago Curry House

Robert Street, Canaan

The Trinibago Curry House seems to attract hugely varied reports from customers, with some visitors loving their offerings and others the opposite. They are only open for lunch and specialise in filled rotis. Previously located in Pigeon Point Road, the business relocated to Robert Street (opposite Stumpy's Emporium) in Canaan in early 2018.

Tristar Restaurant

Airport Terminal, Crown Point

The Tristar Restaurant is a snack bar/café/restaurant/bar located in the building directly opposite the arrivals and departures building of Tobago’s only airport. It may not be the most romantic of venues, but prices are reasonable and the quality adequate, although friendly service and smiles are invariably sadly lacking.

Wonky Windmills Restaurant & Bar is a small local-style restaurant located conveniently in the lower reaches of Pigeon Point Road, just off the main Milford Road. We have no information about them but understand that they do a decent hog roast on some Sunday evenings. We understand that the restaurant is open from 9am to 10pm Tuesday through Saturday, and closed on Sunday and Monday.

Bake My Day

Shirvan Plaza, Shirvan Road, Mount Pleasant

Bake My Day is a small bakery selling cakes and cafe from a smart new unit tucked away in a corner of the new Shirvan Plaza. In addition to the cakes and bakery products, they also offer a good range of baguettes, sandwiches and light meals. Ideal for light lunches. We were initially impressed with the look of the place. However, when charged TTD$100 for two slices of what turned out to be quite mediocre cake, we were left with a very sour taste in the mouth. They are open from 10:30am to 6pm every day except Sunday.

Bar Hop-In

Patricia Terrace, Shirvan Road, Mt Pleasant

Bar Hop-in is a small ‘sports bar’ bar and grill set in an attractive garden setting just off the Shirvan Road in Mount Pleasant. Excellent ribs, jerk chicken and pulled pork. Often a very lively atmosphere with loud music, so not a place for a quiet or romantic dinner. Open Monday to Saturday from 4pm until late.

Cafe Down Low

Buccoo Main Road, Buccoo

Cafe Down Low is a small local café conveniently located on the outskirts of Buccoo village. The cuisine is very much home-style local cooking. The café is open for lunch and dinner, plus coffee, snacks and drinks throughout the day. It has become a popular liming spot with the local business and expat community.

Chunkay Roti Shop

Shirvan Plaza, Shirvan Road, Mt.Pleasant

Located in a smart new unit in the Shirvan Plaza, Chunkay Roti Shop offers a variety of Indian street dishes, such as buss-up-shot, dhalpuri and wrap roti.

Debbies Homestyle Kitchen

Corner of Long & Shelbourne, Plymouth

Debbies Homestyle Kitchen is a tiny restaurant with just 4 small tables for two located in the centre of Plymouth village. Debbie, the owner, serves all local dishes from breakfast to 3 course dinners.

Edge of the Reef

Triangle Square, Pleasant Prospect

Edge of the Reef is a restaurant and bar located above Pizza Boys and the Super Buys minimart on the Triangle at Pleasant Prospect. Their fish platters and other seafood dishes seem to get regular praise. We believe that they are open for dinner until 11pm every evening, and open for lunch on Thursday through Sunday.

Honey's Bar & Restaurant

Community Lane, Mount Pleasant

Honey’s Restaurant is a small local restaurant and bar located in the quiet suburbs of Mount Pleasant. Reports have been positive and it seems to be a popular place for the local business community to have a quiet drink and lime. They are open Tuesday to Friday from 3pm-11pm (dinner from 7-10pm). Saturdays are 'Pork Day' with opening from 1pm-7pm. An 'English Roast' is served on Sundays, when they are open from 1pm-8pm (reservations required on Sunday).

Krackers Restaurant

Shirvan Plaza, Mount Pleasant

Located in the new Shirvan Plaza, near the junction of the Claude Noel Highway and Shirvan Road, Krackers features inexpensive international and Creole-style cuisine. Comments rate it more highly than more established competitors offering similar fare, such as Chef's BBQ. Open from 10am-10pm, Monday to Saturday.

La Tartaruga

Buccoo Village

Widely regarded as one of Tobago's very best restaurants, La Tartaruga offers genuine Italian cuisine of the very highest quality under the excellent guardianship of hosts Gabriele de Gaetano and his daughter, Francesca. The restaurant offers an extensive à la carte menu – click on the website link below to see their full menu. The restaurant offers more than 250+ Italian wines and have become one of Tobago’s most respected wine wholesalers to the local hospitality industry. They are open for dinner from 6:30pm to 10pm, Monday to Saturday, but closed on Sundays. During the winter high season, they often open for brunch. Always check first though. Well worth a visit and highly recommended.

Legger’s Bar & Restaurant is a small and unpretentious local bar and grill at Pleasant Prospect. The location offers lovely views over Stonehaven Bay and the Caribbean Sea, making them a popular spot to relax and enjoy a beer or drink while socialising with friends. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6am to 10pm, daily and also offer a takeaway service.

Luvinia's Seafood & Steak Restaurant

Millers Guest House, Buccoo

Luvinia's Seafood & Steak Restaurant is located on the terrace of Miller's Guest House overlooking Buccoo jetty. They offer a Caribbean/Latin American à la carte menu with signature dishes such as the Traditional Ceviche, Jumbo Tequila Shrimp and various steak, grilled, seafood options. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is open Tuesday to Sunday (closed Mondays) from 8:00am-10:00pm.

Makara Restaurant

Buccoo Integrated Facility, Buccoo

Makara offers a fusion of Caribbean and International flavour from premises located on the upper floor of the new Goat Racing stadium complex in the centre of Buccoo. They are always closed on Tuesdays, but open from 11:30am to 10pm on every other day during the busier winter months, but only on at weekends during the low season.

The Mount Irvine Beach Bar is part of the Mount Irvine Bay Resort and just a short walk from the hotel iteself. Located on the smaller, but more stunning of Mt.Irvines two glorious beaches, this beach bar is a tad expensive but at least offers a reliable source of sustenance for beachgoers.

Papillon Chinese Restaurant is a small Chinese take-out located just 100m from Buccoo Junction, on the Auchenskeoch Road, and in the grounds of the Grange Inn. The cuisine is certainly not up to the standards of Chinese food we have come to take for granted in the U.K. but it serves a need at reasonable cost.

Patino's Restaurant & Bar

Enchanted Waters, Shirvan Road, Buccoo

In our experience, Patino’s Restaurant & Bar at the Enchanted Waters hotel is capable of great dining. However, performance is astonishingly erratic and even on the same evening, some patrons can report a great experience and others a dreadful one. The same applies to service, with exceptionally slow service (even for Tobago) being a common complaint. We further understand that the hotel and restaurant have been facing financial issues for a few years now and it is difficult to establish whether the restaurant is open or closed.

Pavillion Restaurant

Villas at Stonehaven, Stonehaven Bay, Black Rock

The Pavilion Restaurant is part of the Villas at Stonehaven. The restaurant is housed in an attractive building commanding a wonderful view over the bay and sea. It is a wonderful romantic spot for a sundowner, although gaining access to the compound can be a slow and embarrassing hurdle due to officious staff and security precautions. The restaurant is capable of excellent catering, but service can be dire, particularly in the bar, and you may often find that you are the only diners.

Part of a large local franchise operation, Pizza Boys have several outlets on Tobago. As long as you don’t expect anything resembling a genuine deep or thin-crust Italian pizza, their offerings fill a need at a very affordable price. This outlet is located in the Food Hall of the Gulf City Mall.

Pretty Girl's is a small local bakery and eatery located on the right-hand side of George Street as you enter Plymouth from the south (Turtle Beach, etc). Given the absence of catering outlets in Plymouth, it is listed here as one possible source of sustenance. We have no other information about this establishment.

Revs Steakhouse & Bar

196 Shirvan Road

Rev's Steakhouse & Bar describe themselves as a “Themed bar serving signature cuts and cocktails”. Opening times can be erratic during the week, but the bar has become a very popular social meeting point for the local expat and business community on Sunday evenings, when live music is often provided.

Rouge Sports Bar

Buccoo Plaza, Shirvan Road, Buccoo

New for 2017, the Rouge Sportsbar is located in the new Buccoo Plaza on the Shirvan Road, just a short distance from Buccoo Junction. As the name implies, this is primarily a sport bar and is apparently fitted out with 21 television screens. However, it is included here because it does offer a limited dining menu. They are open from 11am to midnight daily.

Seahorse Inn

Old Grafton Beach Road, Grafton

The Seahorse Inn is widely acknowledged as Tobago’s leading fine dining restaurant. It is surprising, therefore, that our RSR reader poll indicates such a variation of opinion, with most readers awarding 5 stars, but a significant proportion leaving dissatisfied. We have loved the last few meals we have enjoyed there, and service has always been excellent. The restaurant boasts a stunning location beside gorgeous Grafton beach and is open every day for breakfast (8-10:45am), lunch (noon-3:30pm) and dinner (6:30-10pm). Reservations are essential.

Shirl's Finger Licking

Buccoo Main Road, Buccoo

We're not sure if there is a clue in the trading name, but we have no information on Shirl's Finger Licking. It was closed when we last visited and it was difficult to determine if it is a take-out establishment or whether there are tables and servuce. Still, it's hard to miss if you pass through Buccoo village.

The Fish Pot Restaurant

Pleasant Prospect, Grafton

The Fish Pot is located in the ‘triangle’ at Pleasant Prospect. Don’t be put off by the uninspiring location and building, because this is undoubtedly one of Tobago’s premier dining spots and highly rated by most visitors. They are open for lunch and dinner from 11am to 11pm on Tuesdays through Saturday (Closed Sunday and Monday).

Waves

Grafton Beach Resort, Grafton Beach, Black Rock

Waves Restaurant & Bar previously traded as Bucaneer’s Beach Bar. It is owned and managed by the adjacent Grafton Beach Resort and Le Grand Courlan hotels. The bar and restaurant have possibly the most stunning location of any beach on Tobago, on beautiful Grafton Beach. Following a total refurbishment, the restaurant and bar deserve a visit. They are open from 10am to 11pm daily and serve lunch and dinners, with drinks and coffee at all times of the day. Happy Hour from 5-7pm has helped to make Waves a premier choice for those who wish to enjoy cocktails while watching the stunning sunsets over Stonehaven Bay and so it is not surprising that it has become a popular early-evening meeting place for expats and the local business community.

Boathouse Restaurant & Bar

Depot Road, Little Bay, Castara

Located beside the gorgeous Little ‘Heavenly’ Bay beach, the prettier and more popular of Castara’s two beautiful beaches, it is hardly surprising that the Boathouse Restaurant & Bar is a popular venue with visitors to Castara. The restaurant and bar is open for lunch and dinner every day except Saturday and you couldn’t find a nicer location to enjoy a cold beer or cocktail at any time of day, while enjoying the stunning views across the bay. The home-made pizzas available on Sundays are a particularly favourite, whether eaten in or taken out. Wednesday evenings are hugely popular at the Boathouse with both locals and visitors alike. Owner, Brenton Taylor, takes the lead in a local drum band. When the audience get involved, the evenings can turn quite lively.

Caribbean Kitchen

Castara Retreats, Castara

Apparently now renamed Caribbean Kitchen, the small restaurant at the Castara Retreats apartments has had a chequered history. It is very expensive for what it offers but is primarily catering for a captive market. The restaurant achieved top ratings when they first opened, but the frequency and vote value has fallen dramatically in recent years and most votes now are less than enthusiastic or negative. This mirrors local opinion and possibly following alleged reports of food hygiene issues that were serious enough to hospitalise one holidaymaker.

Cascreole Bar & Beach Club

Castara Main Beach, Castara

Given its stunning location right on the main beach, Cascreole should be a goldmine, but whilst the owner’s wife Debbie is undoubtedly capable of some excellent local-style cooking, the performance of this business has been erratic, to say the least and one is never sure whether it will be open or closed. As a result, people tend to make alternative arrangements and if you do go, and it is open, chances are that you might be the only patrons. Having said that, Thursday evenings at Cascreole have become part of the local scene. There is a big bonfire and barbeque with a DJ with questionable taste in music.

Located just before Parlatuvier's main beach, Chances Bar & Cafe offers a welcome stop for refreshments or a light meal, if and when you find them open.

Coffee Shop

Northside Road, Castara

Castara’s Coffee Shop, or Cheno's as it is often more commonly known, has become something of a local institution in recent years and is unquestionably THE place for holidaymakers to enjoy breakfast, lunch or a light dinner. The catering is relatively modest, but the service is undoubtedly the warmest and friendliest in the village. Saturday evenings are the highlight of the week, as Cheno lays on a barbeque and solo steel pan player. Quite a party atmosphere invariably follows.

Cuffie River Nature Retreat

Based on frequent stays and visits to the fantastic Cuffie River Nature Retreat over the past 15 years, I can only repeat what we say in our review: owner, Regina, produces the best Caribbean cuisine that I have every experienced. She turns local foodstuffs that I would never consider elsewhere into gastronomic delicacies. Reservations are required for dinner or lunch. High tea and refreshments available. We strongly recommend booking a morning nature tour (any day except Saturday) with the hotel, followed by a leisurely lunch. Frankly, I can't think of a nicer day out. Very highly recommended.

D'Almond Tree

Located directly beside Castara’s stunning main beach, D’Almond Tree was a popular venue for visitors for many years. I confess that we found the owner to be rude and the food of poor quality. However, we understand that the business has now been taken over by the owner’s daughter who, from all reports, has a very different attitude. Reader reports are now very much more positive, and they certainly get lots of great online reports. Perhaps we’ll give them a try on our next stay in Castara. Open from 6:30pm to 9:30pm daily, except Sundays, when they are closed. No licence, but you can bring your own beer or wine.

Eula's Restaurant

Englishman's Bay

Eula's Restaurant is an unauthorised shack illegally built on THA land at Englishman's Bay and still operating despite eviction notices. No running water or drainage. The family running this have numerous convictions for crimes against tourists. We strongly recommend that you avoid this place.

Golden Flower Restaurant & Bar

Main Road, Moriah

Golden Flower Restaurant & Bar is a small local restaurant and bar, located immediately beside the main road as it passes through Moriah village. They apparently do very good local food, particularly on Sundays. We mention it here simply because there are limited places to get snacks or light meals in this area and the establishment has been positively mentioned to us a few times.

L & H Restaurant & Bar

Castara Bay Road, Castara

L & H Restaurant is located above Max’s grocery shop, adjacent to the Fishing Cooperative on Castara’s main beach. They are only open for lunch and offer a very limited menu of local cuisine, but prices are very reasonable.

Marguarite's Local Cuisine

Main Road, Castara

Located next to the school, as you enter the main village, Marguarite’s Local Cuisine is almost a Castara institution. Owner Marguarite and her husband, Sherwin, serve up by far the best local cuisine in Castara. There food is always piping hot and full of flavour; something not to be expected with local cooking. Their opening hours are also a little more reliable than other eateries in the village, who often appear to open and close on a whim. Marguarite’s is open for dinner every day and for lunch throughout the winter high season months. In addition to the normal local fare, they also offer excellent fish and chips and home-baked pizza (24-hour notice). They don’t have an alcohol licence, but you are welcome to take your own beer or wine (but not spirits). Maurgarite's is as good as it gets in Castara. Highly recommended.

North Vibes Beach Bar

Located within the Bloody Bay beach facilities complex, North Vibes Beach Bar is owned and operated by an engaging local pair, Stacy and Sherwyn. They are open every day from 11am. In addition to food and snacks, they rent chairs and umbrellas and feature live mellow music on Sunday afternoons.

Ria's Food Palace

Main Road, Castara

New for 2019, Ria's Food Palace is located directly adjacent to the main Northside Road on the north of the village, about 50m past the sharp left turn into Depot Road and Little Bay. Normally open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Ria serves tasty local food. We only got the opportunity to try her offering once, but were pleased with the meal we had. Those who dine in can sit on a lovely breezy covered deck with views across the bay.

Riverside Cafe

Main Road, Castara

The Riverside Café is a small local restaurant serving authentic local cuisine at realistic rates. The premises consist of just a couple of tables on the front veranda of the owner’s house, immediately adjacent to the main road as it passes through the village. They offer a take-away service and home-made ice cream and local delicacies at weekends.

Shirma’s Cafe & Bar is located just a short walk from Castara’s main beach and beside the Northside Road, opposite the ATM cash machine. Shirma’s local cuisine is a great choice for an affordable, filling and tasty lunch, provided you don’t mind eating out of a takeaway container. They regularly do breakfast from around 7:30am and normally have a great barbeque on Friday evenings. A great way of interfacing with the friendly locals that patronise Shirma’s.

Sunshine Restaurant & Bar

Bloody Bay

The Sunshine Restaurant & Bar will be of interest to holidaymakers touring the island and/or the Bloody Bay area. The bar is open throughout the day and on most evenings and is very popular with the locals. The restaurant built an excellent reputation under the management of previous owner, Vaness. The restaurant-bar then closed and was eventually re-opened by her daughter. Vaness has now opened another establishment, under her own name, right next door.

Vaness is owned by a lady of the same name. She previously owned and ran the adjacent Sunshine Restaurant, which is now run by her daughter. Go figure!!! Vaness cooked us the best crayfish we've ever had on our last visit. Recent reports indicate her excellent reputation for great seafood dishes continues.

Bird Watcher's Restaurant & Bar

Main Road, Speyside

The Bird Watcher’s Restaurant & Bar is located on the sea-facing side of the road, immediately adjacent to the main North Coast Road as it passes through Speyside village. They are open during the day and offer standard Creole food. Their macaroni pie was particularly good. The location may not be as interesting as their main competitor, Jemma’s, just up the road, but the Bird Watcher’s is not as touristy, the cooking of higher quality and the service friendlier and more efficient.

Blue Waters Inn

Batteaux Bay, Speyside

The Blue Waters Inn occupies a stunning location in beautiful Batteaux Bay near Speyside. The hotel’s Aqua restaurant and bar are open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, with drinks and bar snacks being available from noon to 10pm daily. The hotel has undergone a major remodelling and refurbishment in recent years. The Blue Waters has always been one of our favourite places to stop off for lunch when doing circular tours of Tobago.

Eastman's Restaurant is a small local bar and restaurant located in the centre of Charlotteville.

G's Tasty Kitchen Delight

Located beside the beach on Charlotteville's main strip, G's Tasty Kitchen Delight appears to be a small local eatery. We have no further information at this time.

Gail's

Pirate's Bay Road, Charlotteville

Gail’s is a small local restaurant on the main road through Charlotteville, just a few yards from the Pirate’s Bay track turnoff. The restaurant is open for dinner, from Monday to Saturday. They are closed on Sundays. Gail is considered to provide the best local cuisine cooking in Charlotteville and at reasonable prices with friendly service.

Located right on the beachside in the centre of the village, Jane's Quality Kitchen is open during the day and only the occasional evening. Reports indicate that the food represents good value but with limited choice. Apparently their rotis are particularly good.

Jemma's Seaview Kitchen

Main Road, Speyside

Jemma's Treehouse, or Jemma's Seaview Kitchen to name it correctly, is a restaurant that has become more of a sightseeing feature than a place of culinary excellence. The restaurant is somewhat incongruously positioned in, and around, a seafront almond tree. It offers great views of Goat Island. All the bus tour parties tend to stop here and it can become extremely busy and the vibe is very touristy, but many visitors love the experience. Closed Saturdays.

Kings Bay Cafe

Delaford/King's Bay

Located on the main Windward Road just before King's Bay, the King's Bay Cafe established itself as one of Tobago’s most popular lunchtime venues. Sadly, the American-British owners Michael and Joanne left Tobago in 2014. The café eventually re-opened with a new local owner. The nature of the café has changed dramatically and this small restaurant appears to have lost its appeal to visitors touring Tobago.

Redman’s Simple Restaurant is located beside the main road through Speyside village. The ‘simple’ modern building may be unprepossessing but owner, Maria, always offers a friendly smile and great service and the creole home cooking always seems to attract positive comments. They are often also open for dinner on Saturday evenings, when other nearby touristy restaurants are closed. Well worth trying.

Sharon & Phebe’s is located on the right, opposite Charlotteville’s main beach, as the road enters the village. The restaurant is open-air, light, bright and clean and serves the usual mix of Creole "shrimp, fish or chicken". They are open for lunch and dinner. Their flying fish sandwiches were the best I've ever tasted.

Speyside Inn

Main Road, Speyside

The Speyside Inn is essentially a dive hotel, owned by the German dive group “Extra Divers”. This small 19-room hotel has a full-service restaurant and bar open to both resident guests and the public. They are open 7 days per week, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Suckhole Restaurant & Bar

Charlotteville Beach Facilities, Charlotteville

The Suckhole Bar & Restaurant is located beside the beach in Charlotteville. Just drive straight ahead after dropping down the steep hill into the village. It is open for lunch and through the afternoon and has received such excellent reports that it has become very much the “go to” place in this end of the island. Get there early though; there are only a few tables and it gets pretty busy. Big helpings of tasty, fresh local food at affordable prices. Open from 11am to 3pm daily, but closed on Mondays.

Little Sparrow Restaurant & Bar

Windward Road, Hope

The Little Sparrow Restaurant & Bar is a small local bar and café/restaurant located beside the main Windward coast road, near Mount Saint George. We understand it is a good place to break journeys along the coast while enjoying a cold beer and a tasty roti.

Blue Crab Restaurant

Main & Robinson St, Scarborough

The Blue Crab has long been recognised as Scarborough’s premier lunchtime dining spot. Popular with local politicos and business owners, owners Alison and Kenneth always offer a friendly welcome. The cuisine is distinctly Caribbean, but far above the basic standards of most local restaurants on the island. Well worth a try if you are in Scarborough around lunchtime. They are normally open for lunch from 11am-3pm, Monday to Friday and dinner on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, by reservation. It is always important to ring and reserve first.

Café Havana Bar & Restaurant

Bacolet Beach Club, Bacolet Bay

Café Havana primarily caters for guests staying at the Bacolet Beach Club and adjacent Half Moon Blue hotels. However, it is does accept non-residents for lunch and dinner. The setting and ambience are lovely, and we have had some great meals there, but also a terrible one. Service can be similarly erratic. The biggest issue, however, is the exorbitant prices.

Caffe Mia

4 Hibiscus Drive, Lowlands

Italian owner, Marcello, and his Trinidadian wife, Indra, are an affable duo with just the right manner and approach. They do a grand job providing authentic, simple, Italian dishes at very affordable prices from small café-type premises just off the Claude Noel Highway near the Gulf City Mall. The cuisine is an interesting Italian-Trini fusion and they serve a traditional British style roast beef dinner on Sunday evenings (last Sunday of month during summer months). They are open from Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm to 10pm.

Chef's BBQ

Carrington Street, Scarborough

Chef’s BBQ is a small local fast-food outlet with branches in Scarborough and Crown Point. They offer a wide selection of local food in a buffet display, available as takeaway or eat-in. Reports indicate that the food is better than the staff attitude.

Church's Chicken/Pizza Boys

Carrington Street, Scarborough

Part of a Trinidadian-based franchise operation, this is a fast food outlet for both Church’s Chicken and Pizza Boys pizzas.

Haagen Dazs

Gulf City Mall, Lowlands

For those who can’t do without their daily dose of American ice cream, Haagan Dazs have a franchise outlet in the food hall area of the Gulf City Mall in Lowlands. They offer a good range of ice cream flavours, available in various size, plus a range of bakery products. You can eat in or take away. Just leave me some of that scrumptious Belgian chocolate!!!

KFC Restaurants

Milford Road/Wilson St, Scarb'oro

The KFC franchise may have a reasonable reputation in many parts of the world, but this outlet apparently leaves a lot to be desired. Best avoided.

Magdalena Grand

Magdalena Grand, Tobago Plantations

The Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort is Tobago’s largest resort hotel. Resident guests and the public can avail themselves of two restaurants, a grill and a small café serving coffee and pastries. We can thoroughly recommend all these restaurants.

Pembois Restaurant & Terrace is the resort’s main restaurant, offering both indoor and outdoor seating on the pool terrace and serving breakfast, BBQ lunches and dinner buffets. Entertainment is provided on Wednesday and Friday evenings during the busier winter months. Although reservations aren’t always essential, it is best to check with the hotel as this restaurant is closed on one or two evenings per week (normally Tuesday and Wednesday).

Kali’na Restaurant is the pièce de résistance of the resort. This is the hotel’s fine dining restaurant and whilst hugely expensive, you are unlikely to be disappointed. Some of the very finest meals we’ve ever enjoyed on Tobago have been in this restaurant. Reservation is essential. This restaurant is open from 6:30pm to 10:30pm from Tuesday to Saturday.

As the name suggests, the Salaka Grill is a more casual restaurant housed in a covered pavilion beside the pool and sea. The hours of opening vary, so always check first.

Rain Restaurant & Catering

Calder Hall, Scarborough

Rain Restaurant & Catering is a small restaurant off the beaten track in Calder Hall, just north of Scarborough. The restaurant can be found in a side street opposite the Chief Secretary’s building. They are closed on Sunday and Monday, but open for lunch between 11:30am and 2pm on all other days, and between 6pm and 10pm for dinner.

Rena Chatack Roti Shop

Milford Road, Scarborough

A firm lunchtime favourite with locals is Rena Chatack Roti Shop in downtown Scarborough. This small roti is located on the ground floor at the side of the red TLH/UTT building opposite the Scarborough Esplanade. Many people rate the filled rotis, buss-up-shot and curries to be amongst the best in Trinidad & Tobago. They are open from 11am to 3pm, but it is best to get there well before noon, as they get VERY busy and things can run out. There are a couple of tables to eat in, but the environment is not best suited to dining, so we only recommend as a take-out.

Royal Castle

Wilson Road, Scarborough

Royal Castle is a Trinidadian fast food restaurant chain serving the usual offerings of fried chicken, fish and chips and similar fast food. They are open daily from 11am to 10pm.

Shore Things Cafe & Craft

25 Milford Road, Lambeau

Shore Things Café & Craft is a lovely bright cafe with a cosy sea-view veranda where a constant stream of bananaquits and other colourful local birds come in to enjoy the well-stocked feeders. The cafe is perfect for a drink and snack or lunch and their cakes and desserts are dreamy. Fresh bread, salad, whole wheat pizza, decadent desserts plus local crafts. This is our personal favourite lunchtime retreat in the southwest of Tobago. They are open Monday to Friday, from 11am to 6pm. They also tend to open on slightly reduced hours on Saturdays during the busier winter months. Shore Things is also a shop, selling locally-made handicrafts, art, jewellery and music.

Shutters On The Bay

Blue Haven Hotel, Bacolet

The Blue Haven Hotel is a 55-room luxury boutique hotel situated beside beautiful Bacolet Bay and beach. Although primarily catering for resident guests, the hotel has two restaurants and a bar that are open to the general public.

Shutters on the Bay is the hotel’s formal dining room. Located in an attractive colonial-style villa beside the hotel, with immediate access from the car park, the restaurant serves breakfast and dinner. The cuisine can best be described as a fusion of international with West Indian ingredients and spices. The menu changes daily and whilst the choice is limited, we have enjoyed every meal there.

The hotel also owns and runs the No Problem beach bar on the sands of adjacent Bacolet Bay beach. The café is open from mid-morning until late afternoon for drinks and serves light luncheons from a limited, but enticing, menu.

The Real Jamaican Jerk

41b Burnett Street, Scarborough

The Real Jamaican Jerk is a take-out and dine-in restaurant in Uptown Scarborough. The restaurant serves Jamaican and local cuisine. Open Monday to Friday from 11am to 5pm; Friday 11am to 6pm; and Saturday 11am to 4pm.
