We had a wonderful holiday. The apartment is ideally situated by the beach and has great views of the beach. The accommodation is good. It is basic but all the necessities, such as toilet rolls and salt are provided. The bay is beautiful and the snorkelling from the shore is great. We saw squid, rays and many of the usual fish. The fan corals were beautiful.
Stephanie and Brian (Alibaba) are happy, welcoming and very helpful. They looked after us and were a constant source of information.
Castara is a lovely place to stay. It is not yet commercialised and has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere.

The apartment was comfortable and well maintained. Loved the well thought out details - from the bird feeders on the balcony, to the corkscrews to the stepstool so that kids could reach the sink. The owners were friendly and quite helpful. We enjoyed out stay, and felt quite at home.

Having traveled to many countries in a wide variety of accommodation types, we must report Alibabas to be one of the most peaceful, beautiful and idyllic places we've been to. Laid back, excellent views, quiet, with beautiful birds on the deck, excellent facilities in the suite and a great location make it excellent value for the $$$.
If you're looking for the Sheraton... stay at the Sheraton. If you're looking for something relaxed and cozy... this is the place.
Very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable hosts. Highly recommended!!!

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights at the end of January 2009 at the start of our annual holiday. Even although the weather wasn't at its best we had great time.
The accommodation was "as it said on the tin" with just about everything catered for, including umbrella. View was superb, even in the rain - a couple of rum punches combined with the lapping of the sea and the singing of the birds can just about redefine heaven!
The bed was extremely comfortable with no need for a/c. It was magic having a swim off Little Castara then just wondering up to our room to dry off and have breakfast.
If you want it simple and quiet then this is the place for you.

We have just returned after spending 15 wonderful days in Castara staying at Alibaba's Sea Breeze. We found the small beach apartments ideal for our needs. The accommodation had adequate space and was well laid out. Along with adequate cooking facilities it had the best fridge you could want. Kept the Stag very cold. We loved the balcony and spent most of our time in the apartment out there. Although there are dividers between the balconies of the various apartments there is a spot at the railing where you could chat with the neighbours. This was great as you had your privacy but were also able to interact with others. We were very grateful for the ceiling fans and also the stand fan for sleeping. The apartment is so sheltered that we did not receive any of the ocean breezes that are so often talked about on this forum. Location, location, location. That's what our travelling companions, Brian and Eileen, convinced us of when we booked at Alibaba's. The beach is right there! It was very easy to go from apartment to beach and back again. Given the amount of up and down in Castara we were very happy to be close to the beach and not have to make any arduous treks up and down just to get to the beach and back. Terrific location. The rooms are clean with maid service (sweeping and mopping, change of beddings and towels, etc) every third day. Appreciated the water hose at the top of the stairs to rinse off our snorkeling equipment and feet. The only hot water available was for the shower (once one learned to flip the switch to turn the heat on) but did not find this to be any problem 'cause we'd have a kettle of water heating on the gas stove while we were eating.
We did not see much of Stephanie as she and the baby were quite sick for most of our stay. Although we did not have the need very often, when we did need to talk to Brian he was most accommodating. He even drove us a couple to times to places around the island and we had the most informative and enlightening discussions with him.
We'd like to thank Brian and Stephanie for providing the accommodation in such a fantastic location and will surely stay there should we return to Castara again in the future.
