Prince and his mother are the capable hosts of Birdieís Nest! First things first; If you would like to be picked up at the airport by the fabulous Cecil, just let Prince know and itís done! He will also take you back at the end of your fantastic stay. Cecil is very knowledgeable about all things Tobago! Heís not only your go-to for a quick ride, but can also act as your personal Tobago tour guide, which I did and I learned so much and fully enjoyed! Cecil, thank you for everything!
Prince goes out of his way to ensure you are comfortable and you have all that you need. Your comfort is his priority. The property is located right by the water so you fall asleep to the sounds of the waves and wake up to the sounds of the waves. It doesn't get any better! The property offers two apartments on the main floor and a large apartment above. I enjoyed apartment #2 located on the bottom with everything you need to be self-reliant, oh; this apartment has direct views of the pool, Great Courland Bay beach, and the waves, especially from the bedroom! There are numerous "corner shops" to grab quick necessities and a Penny Saver within close driving to stock up. The apartment has everything you need to prepare your meals with a BBQ available on the property. Youíll be spending a lot of time poolside at Birdieís infinity pool; which was designed by Prince! itís well maintained and stocked with pool accessories for lounging, swimming or taking in the breath-taking views.
Stone Heaven Bay (where you'll enjoy "Waves Bar/Restaurant" overlooking the beach to take a drink or to grab a bite) is a short walk from Birdieís, by taking the "shortcut" via Great Courland Bay beach (in front of Birdieís), up the stairs, and past Fort Bennett! Your views along the way are roaming chickens and grazing goats with a sprinkling of locals who all seem to offer up a quick hello, love this! (This is how I met the eclectic George, a local coral carver). Thanks George for the carved coral pendants!
If I absolutely had to give a negative, that would be the lack of local restaurants - if that is what you are looking for. Youíll see many local shops to have a quick drink, though and youíll find a few local food stands. In Black Rock, there isnít a roti stand anywhere in sight, a slight disappointment for me!
Donít forget to ask Prince to hook you up with the best tour guides available! Take a trip to Tobago Forest Reserve with Fitzroy a local guide who happens to specialize in the birds of Tobago, he has a very keen eye for spotting the most hidden of these gems. I fully enjoyed my forest hike with Fitzroy who took me to the most secluded spots to view the many waterfalls - thanks, Fitzroy! Then, tour the island from Crown Point to Charlotteville with Cecil! Along the way, you'll be introduced to the many secret and secluded beaches. There's much to enjoy in Black Rock and the stay at Birdie's Nest will not disappoint. I'm counting the days until my next trip... Enjoy!

Birdies Nest is a very special place. we stayed here for over a week, and just loved it. It is right on the beach, watching the sunset in the evenings from the gardens was so lovely. We loved everything about here. The location was perfect, the pool was lovely, the apartment was very comfortable with everything you need, and its great for exploring the rest of Tobago from here.
I would highly recommend Birdies Nest.

My stay at Birdie's Nest was truly one to remember. First of all the hospitality from Prince was excellent and even the local people around the area. The place was extremely clean and well kept with expected amenities. The environment was soothing, relaxing and just a paradise if you want to get away from the crowd. I surely look forward to returning with my family.

Our holiday in Tobago was an absolute delight! As promised, we were met at the airport and on the way to Birdies Nest, Cecil our driver took us to a supermarket for essential shopping. On arrival at Birdies Nest, we were met by Prince Robinson and he and Cecil took our luggage up to our apartment. From that point onwards throughout the holiday, Prince was most attentive and outstandingly helpful with advice, transport, car rental, replacement of gas cylinders and with his mother Princess Robinson, superb housekeeping.
The apartment was fully equipped, immaculately clean and with a balcony ideal for rum punch sundowners and sun bathing on the sun beds and towels provided for our use. The pool was great for cooling off and with the Caribbean coming up to the property wall, a most relaxing vista met our sight from morning to night. Air-conditioned bedrooms and lounge/kitchen ensured we had a good night's rest and comfortable environment to sit and read or watch a movie in the late evening.
We walked often on the two beaches at Stonehaven Bay and Great Courland Bay, both easily accessible to Birdies Nest. On our last night, Prince called and enthusiastically invited us to go the Courland Beach, also known as Turtle beach, to sea a Leatherback Turtle laying her eggs and returning to the sea. This was a sight we never expected to see given the early season but through his association with the local turtle watch organisation, Prince made that possible.
Prince is a great tour guide! He spent quite some time with us indicating places to visit on Tobago and with the Suzuki Jimny, we explored them all. Be aware of the roads in Tobago many of which are potholed and not maintained. This led to some interesting and entertaining driving!
On our last day, we were able to stay in and around Birdies Nest and we experienced Prince and Princess carrying out a clean of our apartment in readiness for new occupants. We have never seen such a thorough job! Everything, we mean everything, was either moved or taken out of the cupboard and fridge and cleaned. Prince set a standard that should be emulated everywhere.
As arranged, Cecil came to collect us on time for the airport. Both the transfer journeys were complimentary.
We were sad to leave and we vowed we would be back!
