Jimmy's Holiday Resort - Reader Reports & Opinion

I was pleasantly surprised at the accommodation. They told us it could accommodate six in the two-bedroom apartment and there were six beds without congestion. The kitchen was large. Some of the furnishings however like the fridge and the living room set had some age on them. The fridge did not cool too well and the spring in the living room set was broken. This did not bother us too much because we were out most of the day and when we returned it was just time for bed. There pool facility was relaxing after the long trip around the island.
The accommodation was within walking distance of both Store Bay and Pigeon Point and there was a mini mart on the premises.

To whom it may concern,
I booked your apartment since February 2008.First i was told that is was $600 then $650 and then $700, as the price kept going up i still went along with it because i was told that i was getting an apartment with a porch and very comfortable to hold eight people(5 adults and 8 children). When i arrived there on the sixth of august i was given the keys to apartment 10A.I then told the lady who took me to the apartment that i was told by Lyla i would be getting an apartment with a porch she then told me to hold on and that she would be back. When she returned she stated that my bookings were done by the "boss" herself(LYLA) and nothing could be done then.
When we got inside i was so embarrassed because i had visitors all the way from New Hampshire and it was their first visit to Trinidad and Tobago.I must say that the apartment that i was given was in POOR TASTE!The draperies were torn, there wasn't a proper shower curtain and a piece of torn shower towel as a bath mat.The first night i went to the office at 9:00pm and reported that the beds were missing two covering sheets and the air condition unit in one of the rooms was not working properly,it kept coming on and off.I was told by a woman in the office that someone would come and check the air condition unit and also bring sheets but no one came.I was so ashamed with my visitors that i was literally counting down the days to get back to Trinidad.I know that i would never be coming back to Jimmy's or further more recommend anyone to your resort! You need to upgrade your standards and further more get rid of your flies from your staircase!!
I considered myself being robbed of $1400.

My family and I (4 adults and 2 children under the age of five) stayed for five days in December 07, and we enjoyed every minute of it. If you don't have a lot of luggage you can actually walk to the hotel. We stayed in a two bedroom self contained apartment and the layout was spacious enough that we did not feel cramp for space. Our only problems were with towels, we did not get a change of towels, for all the days we were there, we used our own. Management said the laundry lady had a death in her family, hence the shortage of towels. I also had them replace the sofa in the living room as the one we met had a large tear, they made the change within 24 hours.
Jimmy's is located within five minutes walk to Storebay, making a right from the hotel exit. From Storebay you can check any of the tour operators for "Deep sea Diving", "trip to Nylon Pool/Buccoo Reef": there is also an Island Tour by boat. On your walk to Storebay, there is a Royal Bank , an ATM. and a landromat. Exiting and making a left from Jimmy's and making another left at the corner(signs are there) will take you to Pigeon Point(a long walk in) $18.00 TT to use the facilities. You can also arrange your sea-tours from Pigeon Point. My daughters rented jet-skies from that location. However there are bathing areas way before Pigeon Point that are great called "Swallows". There are many inlets for bathing. If you are walking in to Pigeon Point, be careful, the road is very narrow and busy with pedestrian walking in or out and traffic doing the same. You can actually walk along the beach for a while to get to Pigeon Point. Also there is a beach bar called "Bagos Beach Bar" to the immediate left of this establishment, we found a beautiful beach we really loved. We actually regretted spending the $18.00 for Pigeon Point, but I wanted to see the improvement of my island as I have not been home for 19 years.
Jimmy's is also surrounded by restaurants, pizza shop, and one of Tobago's main concert hall, plus soveneir shops, all within walking distance. My family also enjoyed the swimming pool, it's open from 8am - 9pm.
We found the staff at Jimmy's to be helpfull and pleasant. There is a well-stocked mini-mart on the compound, I found everything I needed for my familly meals. There is also a restaurant and bar upstairs the mini-mart, I can't give a review on as we did not use it.
Security: It's and enclosed compound and the gates are closed...not locked at midnight (so guest/visitors can enter/exit), and we saw security presence 24/7.
Amentities: television/cable in living area- no TV in any of the bedrooms and no reading lamps. We also felt the kitchen cupboards and bedroom closets need and upgrade.
Pricing: Is reasonable and as I mentioned earlier you are in the "activity hub", so if you do not have your own transportation, Jimmy's is on the main street, therefore public transport and taxis passes in front the building.

Stayed at jimmys for 2 weeks with family 14/4/07 - 28/04/07, good for a self-catering base, apartments cleaned each day,new towels and sheets daily changed. Very basic furnishings with tv, cable, air-con and use of the pool for residents. Close to great beach (pidgeon point,a must)A handy shop at the entrance with late closing ,atm, banks, take-aways ,good restaurants(try pelacan reef) all short walking distance. Good value seeing only cost 550tt (£50.00)per night, apartment can sleeps up to 6 with 2 bedrooms.
A very friendly and safe environment(night security on premises)
All you would want on hand.
We will go back for sure, as we really only want a clean base to sleep and cook. No complaints at all.
Jimmy's In Crown Pointe
Stayed there 4/9 to 4/10. Very nice staff. Very affordable at about $50 US per night. Cable tv and AC, kitchen. Walking distance to airport, store beach, and quite actually Pigeon pointe. Bank next door, Golden Star and Pelican close by. Beds kinda rough, but if you lime long enough you sleep through that. Tobago seems good for chilling and water activities. Good place for doing much about nothing. Slow living. Cabbies will rip you off if they can (30 TT from the airport a quarter mile to Jimmy's). Haggle. Walk.
