Lillibets - Reader Reports & Opinion

One month ago my husband and I returned from our second trip to Castara. We stayed at " Lilibets "for three weeks.
The appartment was plain but we had everything we needed.
Every day it was a sportive practice to walk up and down all the steps but in exchange you get the amazing view from the generous balcony.
Looking to both beautiful beaches and the green hills with the wonderful nature ,was a daily pleasure !You can look to the fishermen how they put their nets into the sea and pull them out later.Different birds visited us and even the Motmot was there.
For us there were only two little negative things.
It would be good to change the mattress and the open shower in the bathroom is not the best solution.
Nevertheless I can recommend " Lilibets "to everybody who want
to have a very relaxed vacation ,with the best view,in the very friendly village of Castara.
Certainly we`ll be back soon.

My husband and I have had the good fortune to stay at Lillibets in Castara for 3 weeks. Tom and Liz are the perfect hosts - gracious, helpful and generous, but not intrusive. They told us that our apartment (Jayon) had the least expansive view, so we were pleasantly surprised by the dramatic view of the bay from our deck. The apartments are comfortable and well maintained. The kitchen had everything we needed for self-catering. We highly recommend Lillibets for a stay in the paradise of Castara.

Long overdue report (apologies Tom and Liz...)
We have been greeted on the balcony of our appartment in Castara by the lovely Tom and Liz with an ice cold beer and a lovely welcoming chat after quite a tedious trip : what a view!
Very promising indeed: the appartment is quite roomy (big living room/ kitchen)and airy. There was no air-conditionning but felt there wasn't any need for it as our room was top floor and quite breezy (we did have 2 fans, though and they came in handy at night). It is rustic and charming in its decoration but it fits the atmosphere of castara quite well. The kitchen is perfectly equipped and will have you cooking with ease unlike some of the accomodation with so-called kitchens I have stayed in in the past... It is perfectly located in Castara: you are overlooking the little beach (Castara has 2), quite high up and the view in the morning especially (with the fog) is quite stunning. It is very quiet, the locals are very friendly and all feels very safe: after a couple of days, it feels like you are part of the community. I should really mention that we were top floor in Lilibet's so bear in mind that you will have to face the mighty stairs that lead to the house and to our floor ( Castara is after all very hilly)
and that you should be good on your legs if you are planning to be in and out of the house all the time.
All in all, we had a lovely stay. This place is very good value for money and will leave you feeling like you have been part of the real Tobago for a while.

Tom and Liz could not have been more helpful during our stay.
Lillibets was basic but adequate and the veranda delightful. Taylors carhire failed to collect us from the airport which was alarming and unsatisfactory after a long flight and at dusk.

We loved Castara and our stay at Lillibets. The accommodation was simple but very practical, and ideal for a couple self-catering. We could have stayed there forever. And the appartements have a very large terrace with a gorgeous view.
The owners of Lilibets are a very nice couple who made us feel welcome.
The appartments are nice and spacious. The citchen is equiped with everything you need.
The lovely beach is just a stone's throw (and about 50 steps) away. And there you find also the great "Boat House Beach Bar". A place to relax and to drink the famous "Rum-Punch".
We stayed for one week at Castara. Then we had to leave to Charlotteville. Three days later we came back to this lovely town, because we missed this place so much. We spent the rest of our holidays at Lillibets. And we are sure to come back some day.
