Twelve years ago, my husband and I spent our honeymoon here, so for our anniversary every year since then, no matter what else we have planned, we always make our back for a few days. Sadly this place seems to be deteriorating with each visit. This year was the ABSOLUTE worst.

Now over the years we have come to terms with the fact that this is by no means a five or even four star property. However, this year we decided to try a new room, namely the one bedroom apartment with the garden view. As expected there were some signs of disrepair, although the lighting was unusually inadequate and we were closer to the airstrip, so the sound of planes taking off and landing were a bit noisier, but nothing we couldn't overlook as we usually do.

What made this stay our absolute worst to date however was two fold. One was the fact that our room was cleaned only ONCE in the eight days we stayed there. And this mind you was only after I literally had to beg for it to be done. When we inquired at reception why our room was not being cleaned, she wanted to know if we had requested the housekeeper to do so. WHAT!? Since when is daily housekeeping not done daily, but only when requested? Is this their new policy? If so, future guests please be aware so you won't be overly inconvenienced as we were.

The second and frankly unforgivable injustice was that our room was situated directly above a night club. So on Saturday night around midnight when the party got into full gear, we were innocently awoken from peaceful slumber and bombarded with extremely loud music and incessant DJ chants until after 5:00am. I imagine this noise would have affected all the guests in the upper floor garden wing and to some extent those in the new wing as well. I certainly know our immediate neighbors were as severely affected as we were. Needless to say any hope of falling back to sleep was impossible. In fact the music was so loud you could party from the street, so there were quite a lot of would-be patrons milling around, and from the profanity and general behavior, I would class the majority of these characters as unsavory.

Frankly, Sandy Point needs to decide if they're running a hotel or a disco. To have both without any kind of restrictions or noise control shows an absolute disregard to their paying guests. What's more, when we complained the next morning, we did not even get as much as an apology. I tell you if our bill hadn't been paid up at check-in, they would not have received a dime of my hard earned money for that night of pure torture.

I was quite nervous about what to expect at this establishment after reading some horrid reviews here.

After spending an entire week at Sandy Point Village I have absolutely nothing bad to say.

Natoya at the front desk is a gem. Even before we got there she was very helpful. Rhonda who actually checked us in was great too!

The room surpassed all expectations. Every day when we got back the bed was made, fresh towels were in the bathroom and the floor was so clean it shone.

The pool near the restaurant was perfect especially since there were no time restrictions. Even when there were about 4 people in it, there was more than enough room for everyone to swim around without bumping into each other! Wading in it at the end of the evening, under the starts was extremely relaxing.

The view from the restaurant was breathtaking along with that from the carrot shed on the jetty.

Everything we needed was right there in the hotel and if not within a 2 minute walk. James mini mart which is right next door was well stocked and open all day long.

Food at the restaurant was delicious and the staff, very friendly.

All in all i would recommend Sandy Point Village to anyone. Was a great getaway for 2 girls...and with their facilities surely is a great romantic hideaway as well.

I should have realized upon checking in, that this was not going to be the experience that I had expected. The receptionist took almost 20 minutes to check us in.

In addition you have to pay a deposit to use the remote. How ridiculous! By the way I was wrongly accused of not returning said remote by the receptionist. She did not apologize for this. I had to return to my room and search for the remote which I knew I returned.

The room, which was on the ground floor was poorly lit. The lighting was not ample at all.

The facilities are archaic. The bath tub was beginning to rust. The shower curtain is made of cloth which made it possible for water to permeate it and wet the floor. The shower head itself does not facilitate proper usage by anyone above 5'8". The hot water lasts about 5 minutes.

Upon requesting fresh towels the following day after arrival, I was told that the same towels are washed each day. So that you are inconvenienced by the hotel because they lack enough towels.

The daily newspaper was not delivered daily as advertised.

The best thing about the hotel was the scenery. That's it. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

My stay at Sandy Point was truly enjoyable! There was a slight hiccup at the check-in counter upon arrival, however the reservation desk clerk was very courteous, helpful and professional and the issue was sorted out in less than 10 minutes.

The poolside room was tastefully decorated and furnishings were of good quality.

During my stay the hotel staff were attentive and friendly at all times. Special mention must be made of the Steak and Lobster Grill staff! The surf and turf was heavenly and service was extraordinary!

I haven't stayed at Sandy Point Village, however I did call them to make a reservation for one night over a Weekend in September as my guest is coming on a Friday Midnight flight to Trinidad and we are taking the first boat out on the Saturday morning. I was told that I cannot book a room for one night on a weekend. I think this is absolutely absurd and I am immediately deterred from further considerations of staying there. I think there is false advertisng on the the site as rooms are quoted in TTD which I assume represented a per night rate.
