Ranking System

We have ranked every dive shop in each of four categories - Safety Standards (35%) - Quality of Equipment (30%) - Customer Service (25%) and Range of Dive Sites Dived (10%). An overall award has been calculated using the weightings shown in brackets behind each category:

It is interesting to note that 13 of the 16 dive services have been ranked "above average". In fact, four dive operations have scored near-perfect scores of between 4½* (4-star plus) and 5, meaning that 56% of Tobago’s dive services operate to the very highest international standards.*

The information used to formulate the rankings comes from numerous diverse sources. For reasons of neutrality, we naturally try to utilise sources not directly connected with the Tobago dive industry. The rankings are based on the best information at our disposal and offered in good faith. Readers are urged to make their own enquiries to determine the suitability of any establishment.

In addition to our own rating, our readers have expressed their 'satisfaction' with the dive services through our Reader Satisfaction Rating polls. Changes in ownership and management resulted in a major turn-around of the company, but indications are that the improvements have not been maintained and that the service may be returning to the bad old days.
