BEER prices, etc.

Post by DickStrokes »

i will be traveling to Tobago shortly, and just out of curiosity would like to get an idea of some "real-world" prices

specifically, what is the average price of a beer in a restaurant or bar?...what brands are the most popular?

how about a plate of pub-grub, like a burger & fries, or fish & chips...how much does that stuff run?

also, i never hear mention of any night-clubs or popular bars....are there many (or ANY) such places?....if so, which ones are recommended?

we'll mainly be staying in Bon Accord, but will have a car, so info for any area of the island would be appreciated :D

thanks
Andreas

Hi Dick,

It is not a long time ago that I spent two weeks in Tobago, but, however, it is hard to remember the prices in TT$... But I will try it:

A beer costs >7 TT$. The local brands Carib and Stag are available nearly everywhere, in some restaurants / bars you can get a Guinness or Mackeson as well.
Most of Tobago’s nightlife concentrates in the Crown Point Area near the airport, so there are lots of bars and restaurants and so on there.
In Scarborough Ma King’s at Wilson Rd. is a nice place to have a beer, it is very popular with locals. That goes for a bar called Bar Code, too, which is a 10 minute walk away from the harbour at Milford Rd.
I can highly recommend Charlie’s Polo Bar ( http://www.tobagopolobar.com ) in Buccoo, which is popular with tourists and locals - lunch and dinner are excellent! Snacks cost about 20-30 TT$ (sandwiches... ), spaghettis 35 TT$, fish (the Catch of the Day) 75 TT$.

Have a nice time in Tobago!
Regards,
Andreas

I am sorry, I mixed up all the prices concerning the Polo Bar. You should better have a look at the Menu Boards: http://www.tobagopolobar.com/photos/menuboard.htm
