Lobsters

Post by David »

:D 1/ We are looking forward to a couple of weeks on the island (Stonehaven bay area) and wondered if it is possible to buy Lobsters (as well as Fish) from the local fisherman? 2/Also is there a "season" for Lobsters or are they caught all year round?
Finally ,if a Lobster is found when snorkelling is it ok to keep and cook providing it is of 'legal' size? If so what measurement is accepted??
Thanks in anticipation

Hi David

Sorry, I saw your post when it came in, but hoped that someone else could answer it more fully and accurately than I can. Yes, you most certainly can buy lobsters from local fishermen and I believe they are available all year round. I also believe that it’s fine to catch them yourself – but couldn’t tell you what the legal size is, if any. Hopefully somebody else may be able to clarify these points.

Have one for me, please.
